[00:01:14] Speaker C: Hey everybody, welcome back to another episode of Rock Roulette Podcast. That's right, the crazy ass podcast that took over 1, 700 albums, stuck them in a list, stuck them in a wheel. And every other week we spin the wheel. She picks a record for us and we go through a track by track. We talk about the music, the lyrics, the production, the melody and the arrangement and we give it scores. Just a bunch of friends who love music want to do a podcast and everybody who takes this trip with us of discovery and rediscovery. As we say, we want to. Thank you. Numbers have been consistent. Keep it up, reach out to us, tell us what you like, what you don't like. Maybe throw some albums out there, some songs. We're always willing to listen and we always Feedback. Speaking of feeding back, we got three feedbacks this week. We got Frank. [00:01:54] Speaker A: My name is Frank. And I'm sexy. [00:02:09] Speaker D: Great to be back. Hello everyone. [00:02:11] Speaker C: We got Mark. Oh, hi Mark. [00:02:13] Speaker B: What's up guys? [00:02:13] Speaker C: And I'm sad. Ciao Bun. Last week we did the first half of Foreigner's debut album, a band we've never had on here that's incredibly popular. Front Loaded on the first side, it's definitely some hits and some things that we've never heard of. I think Foreigner is one of those bands that we all know and know a good handful of of songs, but not deep Deep deep. Even though I have this one, I probably listened to it but I couldn't remember everything. Some interesting stuff other than the hits and some stuff that is okay. Mark, what was your overall take on the first side? [00:02:47] Speaker B: Very front loaded. I did like Star Rider. I thought that was pretty good. It was different. I'm excited to hear the second side because I want to see what changes. I know there's one other single on the second side. Other than that, I know nothing on the second side. Really? [00:03:00] Speaker C: Yeah. You probably know the first song on the Second side. It's pretty big hit. Frank, what's your overall take on the first side so far? [00:03:06] Speaker D: Same as Mark. I knew the hits and that's it. I'm digging it so far. I mean, listening to it in its entirety. So I'm really looking forward for the second part. [00:03:16] Speaker C: Me too. I'm hoping we find some gems that we didn't know about before. But before we get to that, we get to spin the baby wheel and the new Bets in a world where [00:03:26] Speaker D: new music is not easy to find. [00:03:31] Speaker A: Welcome to new bets. [00:03:42] Speaker B: Alrighty. Here is the new Bets wheel. [00:03:58] Speaker C: Ooh. Richie Sambora. Born to rock. I wonder if that's, like, rock music or rock, like, back and forth in a chair. [00:04:08] Speaker B: He's starting to get up there. [00:04:09] Speaker C: I think we can say anything. I mean. [00:04:10] Speaker B: No, no. [00:04:10] Speaker C: None of us are that. [00:04:12] Speaker B: True. True. I would be interested to hear what this sounds like. [00:04:16] Speaker C: I'll say bad production from the start. [00:04:19] Speaker B: Okay. [00:04:19] Speaker C: I could be wrong. [00:04:20] Speaker B: All right, let's do this. This is Richie Samboro, Born to rock. [00:04:44] Speaker A: Some people tell you that rock is dead But I'm here to tell you. Just a jukebox gave me the freedom like rocking mountain. Now it feels like heaven Nobody's gonna take that away? When I laid my hands on my left guitar well then I believe that me shooting I was born I was born to die as long as a rock cause I rock the roll I'm banging my gun like a morning stone I was w. I was born to die. Almost famous had my mtv? My guilty pleasure was my fantasy mama had to take a picture take them off the wall like a rocket stallion Kick it in the skull. Kissing stars of junior I was born, I was born to rap I see little sickstream in my head you got songs? I'll tell you, babe I was born I was born to r. Excuse me. Come on. When I lay my hands on my guitar I really believe that we shouldn't stop I was going to rock as long as I can about the road singing my songs. I'll give you the. [00:07:48] Speaker C: I will say two things. One, he sounded like Gene Simmons. I felt. And two, I stand corrected. The production was my favorite part of that song. I have nothing else to say. [00:08:00] Speaker B: Out of respect, he's written a lot of songs that I really, really like. [00:08:03] Speaker C: Yep. [00:08:04] Speaker B: This one, I don't understand some of the stuff. It feels very jammed together. Guitar solo started and then just ended. I don't even understand that. I don't think it's great. I think there are pieces in there that could be Great. Could it have been a better Bon Jovi song if he had someone else help write this with him? Maybe there are pieces in there that sort of are similar to New Jersey ish pieces. I thought just the overall sound. It's not a great song in the form that it is right now. [00:08:31] Speaker A: Yeah, [00:08:33] Speaker C: I giggled a bit during the song. [00:08:36] Speaker B: It is cheesy. [00:08:37] Speaker C: I did like the production. I thought it sounded pretty good. [00:08:39] Speaker B: Did you? I didn't like it for what it was. [00:08:42] Speaker D: Sounded like a really good first version of that song. Need a little more refining. I mean, the production was nice. That's like an 80s song, not a 2025 kind of a song. [00:08:52] Speaker C: When. When it first started, I was thinking Richie Sambor and the New Power Generation. [00:08:58] Speaker B: It could be better again. I think if it had some work, it would be better. It felt like there was a lot of pieces that were jammed together. It didn't flow very well. Guitar solo started out okay and then just stopped. I guess the end guitar solo was all right. I don't know. I expect a little bit more from him. His voice sounded good. [00:09:13] Speaker C: He sounded like Gene Simmons. Go back and listen to it. [00:09:15] Speaker B: I don't want to listen to it again. [00:09:16] Speaker C: His tone and everything was really to the point where I'm like, is he singing background vocals on this? It really sounds like Gene Simmons. [00:09:24] Speaker B: I mean, I think he still kept his voice. I don't think he has the problems that Bon Jovi has. [00:09:28] Speaker C: No, it's not a stretch. There's no stretching going on here. It's a pretty simple, straightforward song. [00:09:32] Speaker B: Could be better, though. I was expecting more. Let us know if you like this. Hit us up on the social media and let's rubber stamp it. Here we go. [00:09:40] Speaker D: In a world where new music is not easy to find. [00:09:47] Speaker B: Welcome to New Bets. Okay, well, after that, let's get into some more Foreigner. This is long, long way from home. [00:10:23] Speaker A: It was a Monday A day like any one day I left the small town where the apple indicated it was my destiny it's what we needed to do they were telling me I'm telling you I was inside Looking outside the millions of faces but still I'm alone Waiting Hours of waiting Paying a penance I was longing for home I'm looking out for the two of us. I hope we'll be here when they're through with us. [00:11:26] Speaker C: Remember this one? This one pretty popular. [00:11:27] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Now that I heard it, 100%. I like the song too. I like the melody. [00:11:31] Speaker C: I just don't like that two line thing that I'm looking out for us and hope they'll be with. It just doesn't really seem to fit. But I really like the rest of it. I think it's well produced and I'm a sucker for that. It's pretty good. [00:11:42] Speaker B: I like the melody on the verses a lot. [00:11:45] Speaker C: Me too. [00:11:45] Speaker B: And his voice again. Sing the phone book Lou Graham. Do whatever you want to do. Whatever you sing Sounds good. [00:11:50] Speaker D: I'm not that familiar with this song. I like that beginning there. [00:11:54] Speaker C: It's not maybe a. A level of. You know what I mean. Like cold as ice it gets played. But that's good. That means you have a fresher. [00:12:03] Speaker D: Oh yeah. [00:12:03] Speaker B: I'm very surprised you haven't heard the song before. [00:12:05] Speaker D: What was the other one on the first side that he said? Frank. How you not heard this before? [00:12:09] Speaker B: Feels like the first time. [00:12:11] Speaker D: Yeah. You know what's funny? I heard it in the supermarket last weekend. [00:12:16] Speaker B: There you go. [00:12:19] Speaker D: I was like. Huh. Maybe I have heard it before. [00:12:22] Speaker B: Oh, you have heard it before. It's just sometimes you don't realize it. [00:12:25] Speaker D: Yeah. Yeah. [00:12:26] Speaker C: Probably unrock Roulette. [00:12:28] Speaker B: Yeah. There you go. I do like the keyboards on here too. They're very 70s keyboards. [00:12:31] Speaker C: Oh yeah. [00:12:32] Speaker B: That's why almost sometimes it forays into the Prague area a little bit to me. Just because of the way the keyboard sounds. It's a very praggy sounding keyboard. [00:12:40] Speaker C: Yeah. There's definitely elements of that first one. [00:12:42] Speaker B: It was a Monday A day like any other day I left a small town for the apple in decay that would be New York it was my destiny is what we needed to do they were telling me I'm telling you I was inside looking outside the millions of faces but still I'm alone Waiting hours Hours of waiting Paying a penance I was longing for home I guess this is the chorus. I'm looking out for the two of us I hope we'll be here when they're through with us It's a weird chorus. [00:13:05] Speaker C: That's my favorite part of the song. I really don't like the melody in that. And takes away from what's going on. [00:13:11] Speaker B: It makes it go to a halt when that comes on. [00:13:13] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:13:14] Speaker B: Because the verses are so good. Yeah. Let's continue. It's a short song. 258 Here we go. [00:13:21] Speaker A: I was inside looking outside of the millions of faces but still I'm alone waiting I was over waiting I could feel the tension I was longing for hope I'm looking out for the two of us. And the heart will be here when the crew with Us. I'm coming home. Monday Sam said Monday she's waiting for me but I'm along my way from home Sam says Monday she's waiting for me but I'm along our way from home Sam said Monday Ah, she's waiting for me but I'm a long all. [00:14:50] Speaker C: I feel like they didn't know how to end it. They actually could have kept going. I think I would have preferred it a little bit. Overall, still a pretty good song. And I mean, that chorus, if you want to call it whatever the hell that is, didn't bother me as much the second time, I think, because the first time they could stop what was going on behind it. But this time they filled it up a little bit more. Pretty good start to the second side. [00:15:09] Speaker B: Chorus wasn't as bad the second time around. I like the outro too. Too. Where they actually use the name of the song because. Is that the chorus? I don't know what's the chorus really, but whatever. I kind of liked it. Let me read some words and we can do our rating. The next verse is I was inside looking outside or the millions of faces but still I'm alone waiting Hours of waiting I could feel attention I was longing for home Back to the chorus again and outro it is. Monday, sad Monday she's waiting for me but I'm a long, long way from home Sad, sad Monday she's waiting for me But I'm a long, long way from home Sad, sad Monday she's waiting for me But I'm a long, long way from home and then that super quick fade. Someone's like, this is where we're going too long. You turn the fader down really quick. [00:15:47] Speaker C: We gotta get to three minutes. [00:15:49] Speaker B: Frank, since you haven't heard this before, you go first. [00:15:51] Speaker D: The keyboards were my favorite part. Not this song. Well, I think it was a really good song. The vocals were tremendous. I do like the production. Eight on the vocals and seven across everything else. [00:16:02] Speaker C: Frank just made up his own category. Vocals. [00:16:05] Speaker D: Yeah, there you go. [00:16:07] Speaker C: I meant lyrics. [00:16:11] Speaker D: Oh, it's been a long day. Sorry, fellows. [00:16:13] Speaker C: If you're gonna make up a vocal category, Lou Graham's a good. A good guy to make it up for. [00:16:17] Speaker B: This is very true. [00:16:18] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:16:18] Speaker D: Eight on the lyrics. [00:16:21] Speaker B: Sav, you go next. [00:16:23] Speaker C: Six on the lyrics, six on arrangement, and seven on everything else. I wasn't getting to do it, but I just. That first time around and then the way it ended, I wasn't too crazy about it, but I mean, overall I think it's a pretty good Song. I'd definitely go back to it. Mark. [00:16:36] Speaker B: I liked everything about this song to. The drums are good, keyboards are good, vocals were good. Only that chorus part, which I don't even know if it's a chorus, whatever it is. So I'm gonna say six on lyrics. I like the melody in the verse so much, I'm gonna give it an seven on music, seven on arrangement, seven on production. I thought it was good. Now, what the rest of these things sound like, I don't know, because I've never heard any of these. Next one is Woman, O woman [00:17:00] Speaker A: Search through the years and you wipe away the tears to find a woman Not a girl Just a feeling like the beginning of the world. Beginning of the world. And your love flows like a river Till it reaches down to the sea and it's then you start to thinking Will the water Will the water cover me? Woman or woman don't bury me alive Just make me feel I've the right to survive Woman or woman I hope that you can see this is nothing like a love was meant to be Love was meant to be. [00:18:41] Speaker C: I'm assuming this is McJones singing again. [00:18:43] Speaker B: The verses, I can't tell. It doesn't say. [00:18:45] Speaker C: I don't think that's L. Graham in the verse. [00:18:47] Speaker B: No, it's not, but it could be somebody else. [00:18:50] Speaker C: Who's saying Star Rider? Wasn't that Mick Jones? [00:18:52] Speaker B: Yeah, but that's the only one I know that he sings. I don't know enough. From what I'm reading, it doesn't really say who sings this. [00:18:59] Speaker C: The funny thing was that I was going to say, is that in Star Rider, when Lou Graham came out in, his vocals were so loud. Louder than they are in the songs where he just sings straight up lead vocal. And it happened here, too. When he comes in in the chorus, it just seems like it's mixed so loudly. The chorus is okay. I don't know really what to make of this one. So far it hasn't pulled me in. [00:19:21] Speaker B: It's a little yacht rock ish. Sort of. Before yacht rock was yacht rock. [00:19:26] Speaker C: Fluid Mac. [00:19:27] Speaker B: It's very soft rock. I know. [00:19:29] Speaker C: It feels a bit messy to me, the melody and kind of what's going on on. [00:19:33] Speaker B: You know what? I thought it sounded like I had a little bit of a Beatles thing going on at the beginning. [00:19:36] Speaker C: Oh, yes. I totally agree with you. I was thinking that as well. A bit Beatlesque. [00:19:41] Speaker B: Yeah. Especially the verses. [00:19:42] Speaker D: Yes. On both points it sounds very yacht rock. Sounded a little bit Beetle ish there, too. For sure. I Can hear that sound again. [00:19:50] Speaker B: I'm not too sure what I'm going to do with this yet. I'm going to read some lyrics. First one. Search through the years and you wipe away the tears to find a woman Not a girl Just that feeling like the beginning of the world Beginning of the world World first two. And your love flows like a river until it reaches down to the sea and it's then you start to thinking or the water will the water cover me Chorus. Woman or woman don't bury me alive Just make me feel I have the right to survive Woman or woman Hope you can see this is nothing like our love was meant to be Love was meant to be Lou Graham's vocals are pretty decent on the chorus part. And again, I don't know who's singing the verses. It doesn't say. It's McJones. They say Star Rider is the one where his vocals are. I just don't know. All right, let's continue. Here we go. [00:20:32] Speaker A: You search through the years and you wipe away the tears to find a woman Not a girl but a feeling like the beginning of the world. Woman or woman don't bury me alive Just make me feel I the right to survive A woman, a woman I hope that you can see this is nothing like a love was meant to be Woman or woman. Woman or woman Woman A woman, woman. Sam, [00:22:34] Speaker C: I found a board that said it. Is McJones singing the verses. [00:22:37] Speaker B: Oh, okay. [00:22:38] Speaker C: I like the first chorus, but from the second chorus on, even the music after that and. And even that outro part, I thought that was pretty cool. Good. Overall, it's okay. If it was more in vain of what was going on in the chorus in that outro part, it would have been a better song. The verses lost me. I think that's what it was. [00:22:54] Speaker B: You're also so used to having Lou Graham sing so powerful that it's a little hard to have the other guy sing. And then he comes in. There's such a big disparity in the vocal. [00:23:03] Speaker C: Yeah. I don't mind his voice. I mean, I think he does a good job. I just think the melody was what threw me off. Star Rider was fine. I mean, I like that this one just. I don't know. The melody in the verses were. But the rest of it was amazing. [00:23:16] Speaker B: Pat drumming was real good bass playing. [00:23:18] Speaker C: Was good bass playing. Yeah. I was gonna say, I don't think we've really talked about the bass playing yet, but it was really good in this song. Drumming's been solid, but I Think it's a decent song. [00:23:25] Speaker B: It's obviously album track, but it's good. All right. Verse 3. Your search through your years and you wipe away the tears to find a woman Not a girl But a feeling like the beginning of the world Chorus. Woman or woman don't burn me alive Just make me feel I have the right to survive Woman or woman I hope you can see this is nothing like our love was meant to be and then woman oh, woman on the outro. Sav, why don't you go first? [00:23:47] Speaker C: This one's a bit rough. I don't think it's bad. The lyrics are fine. I think I'm gonna say five on the lyrics, six on the music, five on the melody, six on arrangement, because I like the end of it, and six on production, mostly one of my least favorites, but not completely, if that makes any sense. Mark. [00:24:07] Speaker B: I'm gonna say five on lyrics and six on everything else. It's okay. I like Lou Graham's part the best as far as the vocals go. I mean, he's such a powerful voc. And the more I hear his sing, the more I like his vocals and I think everything else is good. Guitar playing was good. Bass was good. Keyboards, drums. It's not a bad song. It's just not a level Foreigner. But it's good. I liked it. [00:24:27] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:24:27] Speaker C: I think it's. When it's good, it's really good. [00:24:29] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:24:29] Speaker B: 100% Frank. [00:24:30] Speaker D: This one I'm not so high on. I'm doing fives across. I'm not quite sure how you could follow this song after what was a really good song before that one. Maybe that's why it just doesn't sound so great. It just follows a really good song song, I mean. Five. [00:24:46] Speaker B: Yeah. It's hard when you have a level stuff and then you go with a little bit down a little bit. It's a little hard to take in. The next song is At War with the World. [00:25:12] Speaker A: Never had no need for any military aid and I never took charge of the life brigade I got no captain to defend or attack but still I seem to be picking up flak I am the captain of this body of mine I send fear into the enemy lines on the ground, in the air, at sea they're all pointing a finger at me. I'm at war with the world [00:26:10] Speaker C: that's [00:26:10] Speaker A: the way it must be Gonna fight while I can to put an end to this misery I'm at war with the world I'll have to fight to be free yes, I'm at war with the world nobody's capturing. [00:26:49] Speaker C: Pretty strong riff, pretty strong verses. I wasn't too crazy about the chorus just because of how powerful the verses were. I was okay with the way it started, like, okay, where they gonna go? And then when it was slow, like. And then when they did it twice, I was hoping maybe the second time it would pick up, but it didn't. The verses are strong. It's a really good riff. And this may sound silly really, but when I was listening to the words, I was thinking of the Village People singing this song like it was almost like a YMCA anthem. [00:27:18] Speaker B: Village People. [00:27:20] Speaker C: Just the lyrics because not the song itself. Listen, I have a sick mind. What do you want? [00:27:27] Speaker B: I have no idea. I think the riff is very strong. I like the drumming. I like the second part of the chorus better because they threw the background vocal in. I thought that helped it out a little bit. But still his singing is ridiculous. It's so strong. Again, even things that are half assed sound almost okay because his voice is so strong. That's all I can say. I do like the verses better. The chorus is a little not where I'm at. Second part of the chorus I like better. [00:27:51] Speaker D: I'm really digging the drumming so far on this one. I don't know why. It just seems to pop on this song than previous ones that we heard. I do like this song overall. The lyrics, everything. A good follow up. [00:28:02] Speaker B: Verse 1. Never had no need for any military aid I never took charge of the Light Brigade I got no castle to defend or attack but still I see me picking up flack I'm the captain of this body of mine I'll send fear into the enemy lines on the ground, in the air or at sea Throw pointing a finger at me Chorus. I'm at war with the world that's the way it must be Gonna fight while I can to put an end to this misery I'm at war with the world I have to fight to be free if I'm at war with the world Nobody's capturing me in the [00:28:30] Speaker C: navy you can sail the seven seas [00:28:33] Speaker B: in the navy oh boy. Now you're gonna get that in my head now. [00:28:39] Speaker D: Thanks. [00:28:39] Speaker B: Appreciate that. All right, here we go. [00:28:44] Speaker A: Never had no need for any military aid Never took charge of the Light Brigade I got no castle to defend our attack but still I seem to be picking up flag. War with the world I have to fight to be free yes, I'm at the world with the world Nobody is capturing me. They want from me. Peace in this world need some changes Made with the world I fight a ball every day I find a world with the world a man can only stand so much so don't push me too far. [00:31:04] Speaker C: Yeah, that was much better. The chorus, that's kind of what I was hoping they would do. And they did it. They kind of threw the guitar solo in there, which was cool. That little Cynthia thing, which I always love that kind of thing. Sam Pretty strong song overall. [00:31:16] Speaker B: Got a little lazy with the lyrics. It's really the same lyrics again and again, but other than that, yeah, I don't think it's bad. It's. It's a good album track. The chorus was much better at the end. Y guitar playing was good. Sin playing is good. Can't really complain. I guess I'll go first. I think I'm going to do five on the lyrics. Just cuz they didn't really do anything after the first part. They just repeated itself over and over. And I'm going to do six on everything else. I don't think it's bad. I like, liked it. Frank. [00:31:41] Speaker D: Yeah? Five of the lyrics. Trying to figure out what was the message in this song. What is it trying to say? What is it about? 5 for the lyrics. I'm gonna do the same 6 for everything else. I mean, the music is really good, production is great. [00:31:52] Speaker C: It's just. [00:31:53] Speaker D: Just nothing in the lyrics. [00:31:54] Speaker C: Seth Lyrics are repetitive, but I thought they were okay. So I'll say six on the lyrics, seven on the music, seven on arrangement because I like the way they picked it up. Six on production, six on the melody. [00:32:04] Speaker B: I don't think any of these songs are bad. [00:32:06] Speaker C: I mean, I think this is better than. It's kind of like what I said about the Chili Peppers, where when they're interesting, they, they're good. When they're not, they're not, you know, that what they're capable of. This to me shows what they're capable. I think a song like this kind of sets them apart a little bit. Whereas some of the stuff on the first side was just so straightforward, like you guys can do better than that. [00:32:26] Speaker B: Are you talking about. Feels like the first time in Cold is Ice. Not really those songs. [00:32:30] Speaker C: No, no, those are the ones that I don't remember. [00:32:32] Speaker B: Head Knocker. Yeah, the damage is done, definitely. [00:32:37] Speaker C: Head Knocker stands out to me. [00:32:38] Speaker B: Even Star Rider I thought was good. I like Star a lot. [00:32:41] Speaker C: Yeah, Star Rider is good. I thought this song was pretty good too. And I definitely go back to this one. [00:32:45] Speaker B: All right, let's continue. This is fool for you anyway. [00:33:01] Speaker A: Well, I miss you, honey? A little more every day? And I know if I kissed you you'd be coming back home to stay? Cause I know I was wrong long but how long do I have to pay? You know you belong here beside me? I'm a fool for you anyway? I'm a fool for you anyway. [00:34:09] Speaker C: Even though I don't feel this song really goes anywhere, you give them credit because it is different. They're not just one style. I think whether or not you like everything, they can write different types of songs. This song really, to me, hasn't gone anywhere yet, but there's probably more coming. [00:34:25] Speaker B: I think it's a very 70s battle ballad, but it is different than some of the other things that they do. It does sound like the time. It's very what 70s soft rock was like. But it's good if you don't like it. You have to appreciate the writing of it. It's catchy, has good melody and stuff. I think it's. I don't think it's bad at all. [00:34:43] Speaker A: No. [00:34:43] Speaker C: That I don't really feel it's going anywhere yet, but I feel that it will. It's chilling in this one area. I could be wrong, but I feel like it's gonna go to some other level. Whether or not we like it. We'll see. [00:34:54] Speaker D: It's your typical 70s dentist office music, for sure. Can't wait to hear where we go with it. [00:35:03] Speaker B: They would take this song and make music out of it. It would just be instrumental. [00:35:06] Speaker D: That's right. Muzak. [00:35:08] Speaker B: We can afford the real song. So we'll just have someone re record this without the vocals on it. And we'll play in the doctor's office. [00:35:13] Speaker D: And you change one or two notes so you don't get sued. [00:35:16] Speaker B: I don't think they do that. I think they just don't sing the music. They just redo the song. Versus well, I miss you, honey, a little more every day? I know if I kissed you you'd be coming back home to stay? Because I was wrong? But how long do I have to pay? You know you belong here beside me? I'm a fool for you anyway? I'm a fool for you anyway? Because I'm a fool for you anyway. Let's continue. [00:35:38] Speaker A: Well, I cried for you so long a river of tears ran dry? And I tried to be so strong but grew weaker as time went by? You know your love left a mark on me? I don't think it will fade away me? I'll sit here and wait till you come home? Cuz I'm a fool for you anyway. I'm a fool for you anyway. Fool for you anyway. [00:37:07] Speaker C: It builds a bit and then it goes back down. I do like that acoustic solo. It's kind of Eagle esque to me. Whereas I think the Eagles maybe could have done something a little bit more interesting with this, maybe with the vocals and stuff. It's not bad, but it's okay. I still feel like it's not going anywhere now. It sounds like it might build up into some kind of outro. It's okay. It's kind of like that song where you're chilling in your bed in the 70s with the big headphones. I know we've mentioned stuff like that, but maybe you're about talking token. You're just chilling on your bed and you're like, I'm a fool for her anyway. [00:37:41] Speaker B: It's definitely very Eagles. Like, I was gonna say the solo. I like the slide guitar on the solo. I thought that was pretty good. It's not really going anywhere yet, but I don't know if it has to. It's just a very mellow 70s thing. Let's read the next verse. While I cry for you for so long. My river of tears ran dry. And I tried to be so strong. But I grew weaker as time went by. You know your love left a mark on me. I don't think it will fade away. I'll sit here and wait until you come home. Because I'm a fool for you anyway. And we'll fool for you anyway. Fool for you anyway. Then solo. And now we're coming out. And here we go. [00:38:34] Speaker A: Sit here and wait till you come home. Cause I'm a fool for you anyway. Guess I'm a fool for you anyway. I'm a fool for you anyway. Fool for you anyway. I'm a fool for you anyway. [00:39:42] Speaker C: I picture a modern movie made about the 70s that displays during a montage of a guy and a girl. She's moving away and they meet up. That's kind of like what it reminds me of. Like a montage song. [00:39:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:39:54] Speaker C: It's not bad. [00:39:55] Speaker B: It's not horrible. [00:39:56] Speaker C: No, it's not. It's not. It's really not bad. It's not. Oh, my God. [00:40:00] Speaker B: I think I'll go first. I'm gonna say six on the lyrics, six on the melody, seven on the music. The arrangement's a little janky. I'm gonna say five on that, six on production. It's not horrible. It's a middle of the road song. It's a very 70s ballad. That's all I really need to say. I think that all the playing is done well. Singing's done well. What else can I ask for, right, Sav? [00:40:20] Speaker D: It's funny you say that. As the song was playing, I pictured something similar. It's like a couple sitting on a beach in California at night with a bonfire going and then just reminiscing their summer of love before they go off back to college. I dug it. I liked it. I'm gonna give it sevens all the way across for that nostalgic sound. The lyrics were okay, the production was good, and again, those vocals are awesome. So type of for me, it's great to be here. Thank you. It's quintuple 7 just for Nicolo. Nikki Titty, Baby Coolo. [00:40:52] Speaker C: I'll make it simple. I'll say sixes across. Not bad. [00:40:55] Speaker B: All right, we're at the end. This is I need you. [00:41:10] Speaker A: It. Telling yourself lay the right way of giving oh with you I could change this misguided goal that I've been living Anything, anything you might need A desire Just call on me Cause my heart's on fire I. [00:42:12] Speaker C: Need you [00:42:17] Speaker A: Yes, I need you. [00:42:40] Speaker C: I think it's interesting so far. I like that off time thing that they were doing. They could have gone straight into it. They didn't. And then they went into it with the verse. I'm finding this one interesting. [00:42:50] Speaker B: It's definitely a different type of song. The fade in was weird and all the keyboard stuff. And the verse is great. Chorus is okay, it's not bad. But it's all the instrumentation. I think that's just very experimental. [00:43:02] Speaker C: I think it kind of interesting. I mean, yeah, the verse is pretty, pretty good. His voice is great as always. I'm curious to see where they go with this one. [00:43:08] Speaker D: I don't know yet. I want to listen to it a little bit more. It reminds me of a modern day band. The whole song, everything about it so far, I just can't put my finger on it. But we'll see where it goes. [00:43:19] Speaker B: Verse 1. Selling your soul isn't the right way of giving oh with you I could change this misguided goal I've been living Anything, anything you might need or desire Just call on me because my heart's on fire. Chorus Any need you, do you need me too? Yes, I need you Yes, I need you. Not a lot of words yet. See where it goes. Here we go. [00:43:41] Speaker A: Many of the times I've cast the Lord creations oh but you touch my head I love this new sensation. It was Very strange change what a change you I did not try so call on me My heart on fire. But I need you. Sam. Ram. Sam. [00:46:02] Speaker C: Good. Physically, I think this is one of the best ones. Longest solo for sure. I thought it was pretty good. What'd you think, Mark? [00:46:07] Speaker B: It's my favorite guitar solo on the album so far. I think it's really good. It's a very Deep Purple. Yeah. [00:46:13] Speaker C: A lot of feel to it. I think most of its playing has feel, but this actually, it's the longest expression he's had in anything by far. [00:46:20] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. It's a lot of time and it just feels very Deep Purple. Just a groove and just all the playing. It just. That's what it feels like to me when I listen to it. And that bass, like, I was like, Jesus. [00:46:33] Speaker C: Yeah, it's a pretty good song. I like this. [00:46:35] Speaker B: Me too. Like it a lot. [00:46:37] Speaker D: No, it's growing on me. I'm just trying to think, if you slow it down, do we have a really good grunge song? Or if you speed it up, do we have a really good funk song? [00:46:46] Speaker C: There's definitely some funk with some of that stuff that's going on, man. [00:46:50] Speaker D: I like it. You can go in either direction. It'll be great. Or you can keep it as is and it's just as good. So. [00:46:55] Speaker C: Yeah, I like it. [00:46:56] Speaker B: Okay. Verse 2. Many is the time I've cursed the Lord's creations Ah, but you touched my hand I love this new sensation it was very strange what a change or if I did not fire so call on me so my heart's on fire. Back to the chorus. Instrumental break. And now I think it's just going to be choruses out. So let's see. Here we go. [00:47:23] Speaker A: You need me to. Yes, I need you, Need you. [00:48:23] Speaker C: That was definitely an album closer and a very good way to end the album. [00:48:27] Speaker B: Yeah, I think it was good. I really liked it a lot. I never would have heard the song if I never listened to this record. I would never know this song even existed. [00:48:34] Speaker C: One of those. [00:48:34] Speaker B: Yep. Sav, go first. [00:48:36] Speaker C: Six on the lyrics, eight on the music, eight on the arrangement, eight on the production, seven on the melody. Is that right or did I miss anything? [00:48:45] Speaker B: I think you got everything. [00:48:46] Speaker C: Wow, that's pretty. Pretty good. Mark. [00:48:49] Speaker B: I'm gonna say six on the lyrics, seven on the melody, eight on the music, seven on the arrangement, seven on production. I like this a lot. It's definitely different than the other stuff. It's not as mid of a song. Has lots of different changes. I like the guitar playing in this a lot. I thought it was great. Frank. [00:49:05] Speaker D: I'm doing sixes for the lyrics and the melody, eight across everything else. It really is a good song. I love the music and like I said, it's like there's some funk elements in there that I'm picking up. So really, really good. Great way to end the album. [00:49:19] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:49:19] Speaker B: Foreigner is one of those. Those bands that we know the hits, we don't know the rest of the albums. Generally, it's a rediscovery and a discovery because I know some of the songs, but I don't know all the offside too. I don't know anything there except for maybe the first song. [00:49:32] Speaker D: They strike me as a band. If they had one of those B side album releases, it'll be a really good album. [00:49:38] Speaker B: I don't think anything's bad here. [00:49:39] Speaker C: They are a band, though. If you ever watch the rock people, they'll tell you, hey, you know the hits. But there's other, other stuff. Foreigner is always one of those bands that people talk about in that way. And case in point, this last song, a lot of people probably know it. We didn't know it, and I'm glad we knew it. [00:49:57] Speaker B: This is a good album to get better than maybe getting foreigner 4 or something else that we may know more stuff from, because this is the beginning. It's a great beginning. His voice is so good. He can make crappy stuff sound good. And his voice, the more you hear it, the more you like it. [00:50:11] Speaker C: Excellent voice. [00:50:12] Speaker B: All right, Saf, why don't you do your thing? [00:50:14] Speaker C: We are part of the Deep Dive Podcast Network and the Boneless Podcast Network work.
