[00:01:03] Speaker C: Foreign.
[00:01:14] Speaker D: Welcome back to another episode of Rock Roulette podcast. That's right, the craziest podcast that took over 2, 000 albums. Stuck him in a list, stuck him in a wheel. And every other week we spin the wheel. She picks a record for us. When we go through a track by track, we talk about the music, the lyrics, the production, the melody and the arrangement. Just a bunch of friends who love music want to do a podcast, and everyone who takes a string strip of Discovery and rediscovery. We really want to thank you. The numbers have been pretty consistent, so keep it up, tell us what you like, what you don't like. Maybe suggest an album for us to listen to or suggest something for the baby wheels. We'll listen to it and we'll talk about it. We are a duo again tonight we got Mark. Oh hi Mark.
[00:01:49] Speaker E: What's up guys?
[00:01:50] Speaker D: And I'm Saf.
Keeping with the feline theme, we had wrapped up White lion and now we got White Tiger, which is Mark St. John's band after he was fired, kicked out, booted out of Kiss, whichever way you want to talk about it. No, not big on the radar, but I know of it because I know my cousin had it. But this was before I even knew who Mark St. John was. I always talk about commuting and listening to some stuff on YouTube and I did listen to it. Honestly, this is probably before COVID I really don't remember anything. We got through the first side last week, Mark, before it even started. You went back and listened to his guitar playing on Animal Eyes and you thought it wasn't bad. But here it definitely seems at least the solos, they're very Vinnie Vincent in terms of get as many notes in as you can. Not a lot of feel, just a lot of notes. At least in the solos. Some of the music isn't bad. I think we like two songs that we thought were okay. What do you think so far overall, it's okay.
[00:02:46] Speaker E: His guitar playing is exactly what I expected. It's not going to be as polished, maybe as animal eyes because he is not having much coaching to say where you should go, what you should do. The production is pretty weird from song to song. I know we're listening to it on YouTube because you can't really find it on streaming anywhere. But even though it just feels weir, weird production, weird choices, it sounds exactly the way I think it's going to sound.
[00:03:09] Speaker D: Yeah, some of the production does sound different from song to song. Anybody that listens to this and says, hey, there's a better version here, who knows, Maybe on the off time we kind of listen to it. This is what we have. This is what we have to deal with. Please take it with a grain of salt. But before we get to the second side, we have the new back section and the baby wheel.
[00:03:25] Speaker E: In a world where new music is not easy to find, welcome to new bets.
Okay, let's do the new bets wheel.
[00:03:57] Speaker D: Zan Cody Dam. I assume you don't know who they are.
[00:04:02] Speaker E: I put it on here. I don't know, no clue. But that's okay. Sometimes that works out better.
This is Zan Cody Dam.
[00:04:38] Speaker A: The day that you think you won it's when you lose the moment you're in the clear you get accused the minute you think it's over it comes back the second you show yourself they will attack I won't obey you and I won't go down on my knees I'm going my way and I do just as I please Damn they got you good God damn Do you believe in everything they say Then you are words away and I say damn the biggest of all scams but can you trust in times like these I hate to say that you are worlds away.
The more you believe the more you will be fooled the moment you ask for justice the minute that they have trust they rob, corrupt the second they say you're safe you know you're fucked I won't obey you and I won't go down on my deals I'm blowing my way and I do just got sight please Damn the God tricker God damn Do you believe in everything you say Then you were worlds away and I say damn the biggest of all scams who can you trust in times like these today I hate to say that you worlds away.
Damn they got you good God damn Do you believe in everything you say Then you are worlds away and I say damn the biggest of all scams who can you trust in times like these?
I hate to say that you are worlds away.
[00:08:21] Speaker D: It's okay. It's hair metal reminiscent, I think. What'd you think of the solo?
[00:08:26] Speaker E: Yeah, that was pretty good. This is the singer and guitar player from Shotgun Messiah.
[00:08:31] Speaker D: Oh, okay. Definitely of that era. Did you know them at all?
[00:08:36] Speaker E: Not really. I know the name. I've never heard anything they've done.
[00:08:39] Speaker D: I've heard a couple of things. I had one of their records. It was a.
[00:08:41] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:08:42] Speaker D: I think Frank had mentioned them once on the podcast.
[00:08:44] Speaker E: Yeah. This is not too bad. I thought it was all right.
[00:08:46] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:08:47] Speaker D: Yeah. Not terrible.
[00:08:48] Speaker E: If you like it or you don't like it, reach out to us on social media, Let us know what you think, and let's rubber stamp it.
In a world where new music is not easy to find, welcome to new Bets.
Let's continue. Side two, White Tiger. This is still standing strong.
[00:09:41] Speaker C: Sa.
Sometime we must standing strong.
[00:10:46] Speaker D: It's not terrible. The more it goes along, the more I enjoy it. His voice is odd. I feel that he also sings differently in the songs. The way he started out, gone a little bit higher in the rest of it. I feel. I mean, the production is what it is. I feel that maybe the copy we have is not the greatest.
[00:11:02] Speaker E: His vocals are really mixed low, though. Regardless of where you're hearing this from, I don't hate this one that much. I think it's a little bit better than some of the other stuff. I don't know what's gonna happen, guitar solo wise, but they did that thing again when they come the chorus right into the verse. I guess that's their thing that they do.
[00:11:17] Speaker D: Yeah. In and out.
[00:11:18] Speaker E: I don't think it's too bad so far.
[00:11:20] Speaker D: Yeah, not terrible.
[00:11:21] Speaker E: It's a good start. Let's see if they can continue this on the second side and keep it going. But I don't have a lot of faith that that's going to happen.
And even though we're listening to it on YouTube, I have to assume the production probably wasn't great to begin with.
[00:11:32] Speaker D: I don't think so. I don't think we're missing some audio dynamo kind of thing.
[00:11:38] Speaker E: Yeah, I don't think so either. All righty, let's continue. Here we.
[00:11:45] Speaker C: Why are you confusing your dream?
Sometime we must stand alone.
I know.
Still standing strong in the thunder but.
Sometime we must stand alone.
[00:13:33] Speaker D: I like the second part of the solo better than the first. There was a little bit more feel in there, but for what it's worth, it does fit the song.
What do you think?
[00:13:42] Speaker E: The more I listen to that, the more I hear Dio a little bit. I don't know if it's his voice or the music or something. Listen, the guitar solo is very technically proficient, and it does fit the song, I guess, but it's exactly what I would expect.
[00:13:55] Speaker D: Yeah, pretty much. Yeah.
[00:13:56] Speaker E: I think he's played some better stuff on the first side as far as technique goes. He's clean, he's fast, but it's just too much sometimes. Just a little bit overkill, that's all.
[00:14:04] Speaker D: A little bit more feel, I think.
[00:14:05] Speaker E: Yeah, I don't think that's his thing. Slowing down is not really his thing, but at the beginning, he did some cool stuff. It's just when he gets to the solo, I guess he feels he needs to show how fast he can play, and that's okay in certain spots. I think when that's all there is, if that's all you want to hear. I guess there's lots of people who would like that type of guitar playing. It's just not me.
[00:14:23] Speaker D: Well, you want a little variety and depth, I think.
[00:14:25] Speaker E: Yeah, a little bit. All right, let's continue. Here we go.
[00:15:25] Speaker C: Still standing strong. Feel the wall.
It's.
[00:16:29] Speaker D: They also have that thing of you think the song is going to end, but then they add in another verse and chorus. They seem to do that a lot. But, I mean, it's. It's not bad. I don't like. That's one of the better songs, I think, overall.
[00:16:41] Speaker E: Yeah, me too. I thought that was pretty decent. I mean, the guitar playing is what it is. I'm not gonna beat that Dead horse. He tried to do a little bit of bending, a little bit of feel there. It just didn't last very long. Lasted for about a quarter of a second, and then he was back again. Impressive. It's very fast.
[00:16:58] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:16:58] Speaker E: So what do you think? Why don't you go first?
[00:16:59] Speaker D: I'm gonna go sixes across. I could actually go back to that song. And I think that there's probably not incredible production on this. Some of. There's probably a better sounding version of it, and I think that would improve the song even more. What do you think?
[00:17:12] Speaker E: I'm gonna do the same.
[00:17:13] Speaker D: Nice.
[00:17:13] Speaker E: I think it's probably one of the better songs, arrangement wise and everything, really. His voice feels always like it's a little bit strained, like he can't hit the notes sometimes. I don't know if it's just the way he sings, but I didn't hate that one. That Wasn't.
[00:17:27] Speaker D: Yeah, not too bad. Good start.
[00:17:28] Speaker E: All right, next one is Live to Rock.
[00:17:56] Speaker C: Get your feelings right Give your soul to rockin Give your body to the night if you got nothing to live for, just stay here. You say live to rock. Rock to live.
We Live to rock.
[00:18:29] Speaker D: Gave a little bit of a measure there in between the chorus and the next verse this time.
[00:18:34] Speaker E: I know.
[00:18:35] Speaker D: Yeah.
You're like, oh, I can stop it here. It's okay. It feels a bit disjointed to me. There's a couple of ideas in there that are trying to gel together that don't necessarily fit together for me so far.
[00:18:45] Speaker E: It was weird when the car came in. It felt like it was off time or something weird was going on. And then it fixed itself. I don't know. I have to hold off my.
[00:18:52] Speaker D: Yeah, odd.
[00:18:53] Speaker E: Yeah, I have to hold off to see if I actually like this or not. I'm not too sure. All right, let's continue. Here we go.
[00:19:19] Speaker C: Rock it in.
Lift to rock. Rock it live.
To rock. Rock to live.
To rock. Rock to river.
Come on now, Live it up.
Come on now, get it up.
[00:20:26] Speaker D: What do you think of that?
[00:20:27] Speaker E: It's the same stuff. A lot of whammy bar, a lot of tapping and then the.
[00:20:33] Speaker D: Yeah, there's so much of that.
[00:20:36] Speaker E: And I'm not too sure now. His vocals are really up front. Last song pulled really far back this time. Really up front.
[00:20:43] Speaker D: Yeah. Which kind of sucks because I don't like the melody in this one.
I wish it was more upfront in the last one.
[00:20:49] Speaker E: I don't think this is as good as the last song.
[00:20:51] Speaker D: No.
[00:20:52] Speaker E: Drums sound pretty decent.
[00:20:53] Speaker D: Yeah, not bad.
[00:20:54] Speaker E: It's just going to suffer from production regardless of where you hear it. I just think the production is not great.
[00:20:59] Speaker D: What year is this? 86.
[00:21:00] Speaker E: 86? Yeah. Right in the middle.
[00:21:02] Speaker D: Trying to think of other albums that came out in terms of production quality.
[00:21:06] Speaker E: Oh, there's way better stuff than this.
[00:21:07] Speaker D: I know. I wonder how much financing was actually put behind this to. In terms of what they actually had and could do.
[00:21:13] Speaker E: Was this emc?
[00:21:15] Speaker D: Emc? Sounds familiar.
[00:21:16] Speaker E: All right, let's do this. Let's continue. Here we go.
[00:21:37] Speaker C: Rock rock to live.
To rock. Rock to live.
You got to live to rock Rock.
Live to rock Rock.
Up.
It.
[00:23:02] Speaker D: I feel this one also has a bit of that USA up all night movie sound to it.
[00:23:07] Speaker E: Where'd the crowd noise come from all of a sudden?
[00:23:09] Speaker D: Oh, those are people living Iraq and rocking to live.
They must have stopped by the studio when they were Recording the song.
[00:23:15] Speaker E: This song could be a minute shorter. They stretched that out.
[00:23:18] Speaker D: You know who he reminds me of? I just thought about a little bit, too. The singer from Tiger Tales.
[00:23:23] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:23:23] Speaker D: Well, if I remember correctly, that's who I was thinking now as I was hearing him in that higher range.
[00:23:29] Speaker E: I don't know what I'm gonna do here. I'm just gonna do Fours Across. I can't really have any justification for anything else right at the moment. I just don't know.
[00:23:37] Speaker D: I'm doing the same thing. If you didn't know what you were doing, I was like, I could tell you what I'm doing.
[00:23:41] Speaker E: Yeah.
It's not as good as the last one.
[00:23:44] Speaker D: No, definitely not.
[00:23:46] Speaker E: And the production does hurt it.
[00:23:47] Speaker D: Yep.
[00:23:47] Speaker E: Unfortunately, I have to say, the outro solo stuff was better here.
[00:23:52] Speaker B: What?
[00:23:52] Speaker E: She would do more of that.
[00:23:53] Speaker D: Yep. In general, I find it better, maybe because there's something on. Around it when. Obviously when it's that middle solo, the focus is completely on that. Whereas maybe on the outro, you forgive a little bit more of some of the showmanship. I don't know.
[00:24:07] Speaker E: I just enjoyed that a little more than the actual solo solo. All right, the next song is Northern Window.
[00:24:23] Speaker C: Sam.
No, it's not over yet.
The best is yet to come.
The troll actions will regret the times while we come we'll break the ties of mine all minds enslaved we'll be the righteous kind we'll all be sa.
She came on the northern wind Fell right the sky she made us believe Again,
[00:25:38] Speaker D: They didn't give you time this time.
They went right into it. This one's okay. It sounds like a slightly less better version of the first song. It reminds me of the first song, but not as good as the first one, but definitely better than the one before it, I think.
[00:25:51] Speaker E: I don't like the guitar tone in here at all. I don't know what the going on with that. And the more he sings, the more it feels like he's a 70s singer trying to fit into 80s metal. Do you hear that?
[00:26:03] Speaker D: A little bit. But he has some of that era stuff, though, right there
[00:26:08] Speaker E: a little bit. But it feels real force, though. There's a lot of glaring issues here, you know, besides production, just some of the melody choices and his voice sometimes. And I don't think he can't sing. I don't think that's the case. I just don't know if the style is good for him. The bass and the drums, they're doing what they're doing. I don't find a Lot of standout stuff happening there, but they're not bad. And I really don't like the non break. Just a little bit of a break.
[00:26:33] Speaker D: A drum fill. Right.
[00:26:34] Speaker E: Anything.
Something to know that the second verse is coming. I wonder if they're going to stress this one out too. This is 511, so either there's gonna be a long guitar solo or the outro is going to be way longer. They're going to add an extra verse or an extra chorus or something. But it is very reminiscent of the first one. Just not as good, though, I. I don't think.
[00:26:50] Speaker D: No, not as good.
[00:26:52] Speaker E: Let's continue. Here we go.
[00:27:05] Speaker C: We'll make the best of it.
Fight for everyone.
New home so we got her wings.
She came on another way Fell right from the sky she made us believe again and gave us reasons to die she came off and northern.
[00:28:20] Speaker D: I got to tell, for some reason, I like that solo. It was simple. It wasn't as it was, I guess. Harmonics going on in there. If I'm using the right word. What do you think?
[00:28:29] Speaker E: I thought that was one of the better ones. He didn't use too much of the super fast playing. It was there, but it was in the right places. He can do that when he wants to. And I've noticed not one ballad yet.
[00:28:40] Speaker D: No.
[00:28:41] Speaker E: And looking at the names of the
[00:28:42] Speaker D: songs, you don't think there is one?
[00:28:44] Speaker E: I don't think there's a ballad here. If there was going to be a ballot, it would have been this one, I would think. Just looking at names.
[00:28:50] Speaker D: But Kiss in this era didn't have them either. Right. There's no ballot on Animalize or Asylum?
[00:28:55] Speaker E: Not really, I guess.
[00:28:56] Speaker D: And then they go and make a decent ballad on crazy nights and nobody listened to it. Nobody pushed it.
[00:29:01] Speaker E: Nope.
[00:29:02] Speaker D: That could have been a hit.
[00:29:02] Speaker E: Oh, 100%. If it wasn't Kiss, 100%, it would have been hit. And this one's better than the last song.
[00:29:07] Speaker D: It is better than the last song.
[00:29:08] Speaker E: Guitar tone on the rhythm is not great. But the lead one wasn't bad. It was a little bit better, but it all feels a little weirdly produced or weirdly mixed. I'm not too sure where the disconnect is. I've never heard this before. This, to me, this is all new.
[00:29:21] Speaker D: Like I said, I listened to it, but I could not tell you a single note. Definitely new to me.
[00:29:26] Speaker E: Yeah. That's not good though, is it?
[00:29:28] Speaker D: Probably not. In all fairness. Sometimes it depended too on how tired I was when I was listening to it. Was I reading something. Was I fully paying attention to it? Did I have a good copy that I was listening to as well? Because there's a couple songs here, I think, that probably would have stood out. The first song on this side was pretty strong.
[00:29:46] Speaker E: Yeah, you just can't hold it all the way through, though.
[00:29:48] Speaker D: Go.
[00:29:49] Speaker E: It's very similar to the first side. We still have another over two minutes to go.
[00:29:53] Speaker D: Nice.
[00:29:54] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:29:54] Speaker E: Here we go.
[00:30:15] Speaker C: Soaring on the ways this world Intelligence our spirit say she came on the northern way Fell right from the sky she made us believe again and gave us resource
[00:30:43] Speaker A: she came on the north
[00:30:45] Speaker C: all the way from the sky she made us believe again Gave us reasons to.
Came on another wind Fell right from the sky she made us believe again and gave us reasons to die she came up and went from the sky she made us believe us
[00:31:47] Speaker A: she came
[00:31:47] Speaker C: on the north Fell right from the sky she made us believe again and gave us reasons to die she came up another.
[00:32:18] Speaker D: What was the name of that song again?
[00:32:19] Speaker E: Northern Wind.
[00:32:21] Speaker D: Okay. Not too bad. All right.
[00:32:22] Speaker B: What?
[00:32:23] Speaker D: You go first, then I'll go fives. Because I don't think it's as good as the first one, but it's definitely better than the last one. It's something I would revisit, I think, to say, hey, I remember this wasn't too bad. Let me kind of listen to it again. What do you think?
[00:32:34] Speaker E: I'm gonna do fives across, except for music. I'm gonna do six because I did like his guitar playing on that. I even thought the outro part was pretty good.
I thought his guitar playing was way better just melodically than it's been in most of the songs. So I'm gonna give it a six just for that, but fives on everything else. All right. This is stand and deliver.
[00:33:08] Speaker C: Yeah.
Oh, don't you want to feel right?
How we go?
Get up, get up and.
[00:34:22] Speaker D: This one is reminiscent of the one before. Not terrible either. I definitely think the second side is better than the first one.
[00:34:29] Speaker E: Yeah, 100%. His vocal is so dry.
It needs a little reverb or something. It's so upfront and so dry that it feels like it's separate from the song.
[00:34:38] Speaker D: Yeah. Imagine not having reverb on your vocals in the 80s.
[00:34:41] Speaker E: I don't think you needed a lot, but it needed a little bit. I need to be pulled back just a little bit. That's really what's standing out to me more than anything. I like the actual guitar riffs and the music behind it. I thought that's pretty Good.
[00:34:52] Speaker D: Yeah, not too bad.
[00:34:52] Speaker E: I want to bash this, but I can't really bash it that much. It's not that bad. The first side is not as good.
[00:34:58] Speaker C: Good.
[00:34:58] Speaker D: Yeah. This side is definitely better than the first one. Without a doubt.
[00:35:00] Speaker E: Either that or we're just getting used to this one. Other, I'm not sure.
[00:35:03] Speaker D: If nothing else, I think we're always pretty honest. We try not to bash people because not only A, or we musicians, but B, we're listening to something that someone actually got to put out. So they got to a level that we never had. Does that always mean something? No, not necessarily. But hey, they got something out there. You know what? I gotta tell you something though. When it comes to stuff that we don't know, something like this, I'm always pleased when the second sound is better than the first. Cuz if you know some stuff, then, you know, sometimes stuff is front loaded. But then you go to the second side. Said, we don't really know these songs. Okay. This is why we don't really know these songs. They weren't here, so whatever it was. But here we don't know anything and it's cool.
[00:35:38] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:35:38] Speaker D: Second size better than the first. Awesome.
[00:35:40] Speaker E: We've had a bunch of albums with. Second side was very surprising.
[00:35:42] Speaker D: Yeah, we've had a few.
[00:35:43] Speaker E: All right, let's continue. Here we go.
[00:36:41] Speaker C: In the.
Make your.
Carry the weight of the world on your shoulders who elected you to save the world?
[00:37:34] Speaker D: I like that solo too. That actually could be my favorite solo. It fit. It was flashy, but not overly. It wasn't all about notes. It felt like there was a little bit of composure to it. What do you think?
[00:37:44] Speaker E: I don't know if I liked it better than the first one or one of the others, but it wasn't bad. I thought it was better than the stuff on the first side. There was a little less twiddly. Twiddly? Yeah. I thought it was okay. I don't really know if he fit in Kiss. I think it was probably the best move that they ended up getting Bruce Kulik because I think he fit better.
But I'm not sure I believe everything they've said about him.
[00:38:03] Speaker D: Yeah. Anybody who's read the Kiss and sell book, I mean, that's a great book if it's true.
It shows you a side that you may or may not know. I probably think his fans know every angle.
[00:38:13] Speaker B: Angle.
[00:38:14] Speaker D: But that definitely presents an angle that you don't hear about in any of their books. And I'm pretty sure he said, obviously he had the condition he's playing here, I believe. I read in that book that he, within the first couple of shows, tried to upstage Gene and Paul, or at least Paul. And there was no having that. How true that is. As opposed to what they say. I'm not sure. I think they say it in the book.
[00:38:37] Speaker E: He got better because he's playing here. He obviously was good enough to play two and a half shows or whatever it ended up being. I just don't think he was the right guitar player for them. Even more so than Vinnie Vincent. I think when Vinnie Vincent was reined in, I think he was good for them. When he wasn't reigned in, that's a problem. And supposedly he never signed this quote unquote contract. That's why they fired him.
[00:38:56] Speaker D: Vinnie Vincent?
[00:38:57] Speaker E: Yeah. Here. I just don't think he was the right guy. I think they wanted the flashy guy. They wanted someone really fast and to compete with all the other guitar players. But I just don't think he was the right guy for them.
[00:39:07] Speaker D: The speed's there, right?
[00:39:08] Speaker E: Oh, yeah. He's fast and he's clean. Yeah, there's no doubt. It's just sometimes there's not enough melody in his playing and then there's. Sometimes he does this and you're like, okay, that's not horrible.
Times in the mid-80s. That sounds about what was going on. Again, it doesn't really differentiate him that much. It's not a Vito Brada style thing where you go, oh, my God, that's Vito brother here. He just sounds like a really fast guitar player. And that could have been myriad of people and they're in that time frame who sounded very much like this. He's not a bad guitar player. Again, I think he gets a lot of. I don't know how much Kiss fans give him for Animal Eyes. I didn't like it as much when I was younger. Not that I hated the record. The more I listened to him. Like, it's not as bad as people make it out to be. Yes. Is it fast? Yes. Other things in there that maybe don't 100% fit with the KISS style, where Bruce KCK's fast and melodic. Lang was a little bit better for them, but obviously he can play it, writes decent songs. Whether he was going to be a gigantic star is a whole another story. Probably the only reason that this band got signed was because where he was in before, more than likely he wasn't getting signed if he wasn't in Kiss.
[00:40:08] Speaker D: I'm sure that helped.
[00:40:09] Speaker E: Oh, yeah. I'm sure it did.
[00:40:10] Speaker D: What was its real tenure in Kiss? Was it even a year between joining and recording and leaving?
[00:40:15] Speaker E: Yeah, maybe. Remember Kiss was putting out records every year then? Almost.
[00:40:19] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:40:20] Speaker E: Wasn't very long. He recorded, he finished a recording he couldn't play. They brought Beauce Killer to Europe. They came back here, he played two and a half shows and he was out. If he was there a year, that's a cup of coffee is all he had, basically. But you want to know something, though? It probably helped him get whatever he got after that. Probably being in Kiss probably helped him. It ended horribly for him.
[00:40:39] Speaker D: Yeah. Had a rough life.
[00:40:41] Speaker E: Yeah, he did have a rough life. All right, let's continue. Here we go.
[00:41:13] Speaker C: Standing delivery up.
[00:42:05] Speaker D: Gave you the fade. Have they been fading? I don't know that I've been paying attention.
[00:42:08] Speaker E: Almost every song's a fade. Not very good ones usually, but their fades, every one of them.
[00:42:14] Speaker D: That wasn't terrible. I think it was on par. I mean, if you want, I could give you my scores. I think it was on par with the last because I was gonna go fives across.
[00:42:20] Speaker E: Yep. I'm doing the exact same thing. I do think that they did much better on this side, definitely. All right, we're at the end. This is White hot desire.
[00:42:35] Speaker C: Sam, Please to me that's nothing new.
Just tease the please that's all I ask of you.
You play the game too well.
So hard to take away no mystery somewhere than you.
You got the knees, you need it to.
Why heart desire Bur burning my face Why I desire.
Turn it over.
Wow.
[00:44:00] Speaker D: I like the beginning of the song. I don't like the verse, though. I don't know why they slowed it down. And the production gets really weird. The drums really fade back. And the guitar, it's weird. The volume is so low. I think if they would have kept that same speed with that riff that he's playing that I think I would like this song better.
[00:44:17] Speaker E: The riff's not bad, but, yeah, the verses are a little strange. It's just a really weird production. Overall, I think that's really the problem is odd because the songs aren't half bad. I don't really know if this would do anything in the mid-80s when you have the rats and the other stuff going on in 86 time. It's not as bad as I was expecting. I was expecting way worse.
[00:44:37] Speaker D: We're not bashing it. I don't think we're really bashing it at all.
[00:44:40] Speaker E: The first side was a little more rough.
[00:44:42] Speaker D: It was Rougher.
[00:44:43] Speaker E: After the first side, I was like, I don't know what's gonna happen. That got some really low scores. The first side, this stuff has been mid fives, which is not great. It's not as bad as I was thinking it was gonna be. I thought it was gonna be really, really bad.
[00:44:54] Speaker D: Absolutely not as bad.
[00:44:55] Speaker E: Well, let's see what they do. Let's continue.
[00:45:19] Speaker C: You got to me look into you why not desire?
Why desire?
Just turn it on again.
You find it deep in your soul.
White hot desire.
You feel it forever you go white hot desire.
[00:46:26] Speaker D: What do you think of that?
[00:46:27] Speaker E: That was very animalized, I thought. I didn't hate that at all.
[00:46:32] Speaker D: Yeah, not bad.
[00:46:32] Speaker E: I'm not saying I want to listen to his guitar playing all the time, but in the context of this, I don't think this is bad. Second side is becoming at least something that maybe almost saves the record a little bit.
[00:46:42] Speaker D: It's like a decent an ep.
[00:46:43] Speaker E: Yeah. If it did the same thing that happened on the first side, I'd be like, oh, this is just really not great. If the production was better and I thought he produced this. I am incorrect. There's not a lot of information on this.
The executive producers are Eddie Coral, Nick and Gordon Davis. I can't even blame him. There's not much I can do to say that was just him doing this. They're not doing a great job, whoever they are.
[00:47:05] Speaker D: No. Maybe this is all they had to work with. Who knows how much money was given?
[00:47:09] Speaker E: Oh, I'm sure there wasn't a lot, I would assume.
[00:47:11] Speaker D: Hey, listen, maybe we'll find this out in a bin somewhere. In a CD bin somewhere or UCD bin or whatever. And we'll listen to it like, hey, this production sounds better.
[00:47:20] Speaker E: Or use vinyl bin. Who knows?
[00:47:22] Speaker D: Oh, that'd be cool.
[00:47:23] Speaker E: I'm sure you almost get this thing for free.
All right, let's finish this out. Here we go.
[00:47:38] Speaker C: Inside me right now.
Seeing that love on your face.
You got the time I got the face.
Why I desire bur burning our face.
Wow. I desire.
Turn it on again.
Why I desire.
My desire Turn it ra.
Inside.
[00:49:04] Speaker D: That sounds like the ending of an album.
[00:49:05] Speaker E: What the hell happened to the volumes there?
[00:49:08] Speaker D: Yeah, there was some weird stuff going on there.
[00:49:12] Speaker E: Wow.
[00:49:13] Speaker D: Very oddly produced song.
[00:49:15] Speaker E: Yeah. I don't understand that. What are you going to give this one?
[00:49:17] Speaker D: I was going to do fives across, but you know what? I'm going to do four on production and foreign arrangement because I feel that that really, really affected the song. I think I could have been fives across the way it started. I like that double time. But the verse to me just really didn't fit. And the production on the verse was bad. I kind of have to knock it down for that. What do you think?
[00:49:38] Speaker E: Yeah, I think I'm near the same. I would have done fives across. Its production was better. That ending part. Choruses were weird. Everything was a little weird. The whole album just strangely produced. I don't really know who listened to that and went, yeah, this sounds great. I don't think anyone was happy with this. I don't think the record company was happy. I don't think anyone was. Supposedly there's a second record. There were demos done for that was around YouTube and I found it. Oh, yeah, who knows what that sounds like?
[00:50:00] Speaker D: Listen, I've heard other albums in that era be produced the same. I've heard things that sound like this. This isn't something where it's like, oh, this is the worst produced album of the era. No, we've heard other stuff that to me sounded like this. There's obviously stuff that sounded better. There is definitely some of the production.
[00:50:15] Speaker E: I was surprised about the second side. I'm actually surprised about the whole record because I've never heard this and I didn't know what to expect. But the second side saved the record for me. Is it great? Would I go back and go, oh, I want to go listen to some white tiger? Probably not.
[00:50:29] Speaker D: I was going to ask you that if you ever think you'll go back to it to say, you know what, heard this on the podcast and think it was that bad. Let me listen to it again and see what I think.
[00:50:37] Speaker E: No, no and no, no, no. I don't think it's horribly bad. I think he gets a bad rap. Some of it's warranted. As far as the album goes. Would I go back and put this on? No, probably not. Do I think it's horrible? Horrible? No.
[00:50:50] Speaker D: I would go back just to see if I can find a better version of it and see if it makes any, any difference. If I say, oh, you know what? Actually, this production sounds better. It makes the song better. I'm glad we got this.
This is something very interesting. I think it's something we definitely weren't expecting. Very 80s. It's very of the era. It has somebody that we know playing their very own style. Well, when I say very own style, I mean playing the way they've been known to play or described as playing before being corralled in. And the fact that it was impossible. Bash. I think that's a good thing.
[00:51:22] Speaker E: This would be something I would never expect we would have got. I stuck it on there going, ah, one day maybe. Wheel. Pick it. It wasn't something I was expecting to have and I never heard it back in the day. I knew about it. I knew about him and his band, but I never heard a song. I never heard a lick. I never heard anything.
[00:51:37] Speaker D: When you think about bands that are on the list that we've never gotten, that have over a dozen albums.
Acdc, acdc, Iron Maiden. We've never gotten.
[00:51:46] Speaker E: No, they just get this randomly right after White Lion.
[00:51:49] Speaker D: Yeah. White Lion, White Tiger.
God bless the Wheel. Gotta love her.
[00:51:54] Speaker E: The Wheel. Sometimes just wants to stick it to you, I think. And we've been firmly in the 80s for the last two episodes. I wonder if it's going to continue on this path and just keep throwing 80s at us now. Weird, obscure 80s stuff.
[00:52:04] Speaker D: Well, if we can maybe get a little bit Fuller House next week, we have an option that we've spoken about.
[00:52:12] Speaker E: Yes.
[00:52:13] Speaker D: If we get semi Full House, there's the other option we had spoken about. We may have something in the works. It just depends. Or it might be just us two guys. Again, I was thinking of a more colorful word, but I couldn't think of one. And I think we'll just wind up spinning the wheel.
[00:52:30] Speaker E: Yeah. Again, something weird to get. I'm glad we got it because I always wanted to hear it. I would probably never go out of my own way to go find it, but when it comes up, you're like, oh, I got to listen to this whole thing through. I have no choice. I need to listen to it. I'm not skipping parts. I'm not skipping songs because on my own, I might not listen to the whole thing.
[00:52:47] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah.
[00:52:48] Speaker E: Was. Wasn't too bad, considering I thought it was gonna be worse.
[00:52:50] Speaker D: Cool.
[00:52:51] Speaker E: All right, Sab, why don't you do your thing?
[00:52:52] Speaker D: We are part of the Deep Dive Podcast network and the Boneless Podcast Network.

[00:53:34] Speaker D: Exactly. We don't know.
[00:53:37] Speaker E: This is true. Yeah. We don't know music. We don't know anything. We know nothing.
[00:53:41] Speaker D: People like. Oh, at least they're honest.
[00:53:44] Speaker E: All right, guys, we'll see you next week.
[00:53:46] Speaker D: Ciao, ciao.
[00:53:47] Speaker E: Later.
