[00:01:15] Speaker C: Welcome back to another episode of Rock Roulette Podcast. That's right, the crazy ass podcast that took over 1, 500 albums, stuck them in a list, stuck them in a wheel, and typically every other week we spin the wheel. She picks a record for us and we go through it track by track and we talk about the music, the lyrics, the production, the melody and the arrangement and we give it scores. Again, just a bunch of friends who want to do a podcast. As always, we really, really want to thank the listeners. Anybody who takes this trip with us every week, we really appreciate it. Spread the word, Let us know what you like, what you don't like. Albums. Maybe you want to hear artists. Whatever it is, we're here listening. Before I forget, I do want to say this is our 150th episode. Some of you have probably been there from the beginning, so we really, really appreciate it. Anybody who's been there for the hall, just, you know, shout it out. We'll shout out your name, man, because we really appreciate it. We are back to a trio this week. We have Frank back. [00:02:03] Speaker B: My Name Is and I'm Sexy. [00:02:18] Speaker D: Great to be back. [00:02:20] Speaker C: We have Mark. Oh, hi Mark. [00:02:22] Speaker A: What's up guys? [00:02:23] Speaker C: And I'm sad. [00:02:23] Speaker D: Ciao buena. [00:02:25] Speaker C: Last week, Mark and I wrapped up the second half of Black and Blue's debut album. I think overall we agree, Mark, that the second side was better than the first. I think the biggest takeaway is that musician wise, they were pretty good musicians. We just weren't too crazy about the songwriting. I think ultimately that's what it came down to. [00:02:44] Speaker A: Yeah, I think the second side was a lot better. I was surprised because that never really happens. Overall, I think Tommy Thayer did a great job. I think the bass player was good. I think the drummer was good. I think it's just melody and songwriting really wasn't up to par with some of the stuff that was around at that point. [00:02:59] Speaker C: Yeah I mean, I think that's unfortunate what stuck out to us. But again, as a compliment to them, musician wise, they were pretty good. If they ever pop back up again, I'd be curious. Curious to hear what we think of the songwriting after that. Frank, I know you didn't get to do side two, but what was your observation of side one? [00:03:14] Speaker D: Overall, I didn't like the songwriting at all. The lyrics were not what I was used to. I have to say that musicianship was there, at least the side one part. The songs just had to be built out a little bit more. [00:03:24] Speaker C: It's always good to have something from the 80s. Obviously, it's a very nostalgic period for us. Black and Blue was a band that wasn't on our collective radar. I think it's something we kind of discovered a little bit later on in terms of hearing of them. It's cool when you get stuff like that. Obviously tonight we get to spin the mama wheel again, which is always exciting. But before we do that, we have our new BET segment. In a world where new music is. [00:03:49] Speaker B: Not easy to find, welcome to new Bets. [00:04:04] Speaker A: All righty. Can you see the wheel? I see the wheel, Right, here we go. [00:04:20] Speaker C: So, Frank, we got Black Label Society, Lord Humongous. Do you know this one? [00:04:24] Speaker D: I don't remember it. Love Black Label Society. [00:04:27] Speaker A: This was released on February 21, 2025, so it's fairly new. Here we go. This is Lord Humongous by Black Label Soc. [00:04:40] Speaker B: Sa. Fear within the horror of the waste fair where they fall without fear Hell no, I fear and the lightning fill the sky no part of my world let's let me pour it down. [00:05:48] Speaker A: The. [00:05:48] Speaker B: Storms are burning my life Unlimited without the loss the wrath among sands until the dawn of war and wonder blow our feet and the lightning fills the sky no more tomorrow let's live before we die before we die before we die Sam SA we die. [00:08:06] Speaker C: That was pretty good. I'm pretty sure that riff is We Die Young by Alison Chains. Played at a different speed. Kind of reminds me of that. Overall, pretty good song. I liked it. [00:08:14] Speaker A: Yeah, it was heavy. His vocals are very Aussie. [00:08:16] Speaker C: I was going to say that too. [00:08:18] Speaker A: He does like the low part and the high part, so it was pretty good. His solo was good. Yeah, I liked it. I would like to get some Black Label. So, Tyler, because we never really have had any of that. [00:08:25] Speaker D: Yeah, I agree with you, Sam. It sounds very Alice in Chains kind of sound in there. Haven't heard the song. So I'm really glad that we have this new Bets thing because, yeah, I just spent so much time streaming that sometimes these little gems get by super cool. We got to hear them. [00:08:38] Speaker A: If you like it, let us know. If you don't like it, let us know. And let's rubber stamp it. [00:08:43] Speaker C: In a world where new music is. [00:08:47] Speaker B: Not easy to find, welcome to New Bets. [00:09:01] Speaker C: Time for the Mama Wheel. Anybody want to throw a prediction to the air or something they want? [00:09:07] Speaker A: My prediction is the same. Until I get it, it's going to be that grunge 90s. That's what I want, but it's never going to give it to me. [00:09:13] Speaker C: I figure I've been asking for something heavy, so let's see the opposite. Something light and elevator, like Frank. [00:09:21] Speaker D: I don't even know what would that be? Light and elevator. [00:09:24] Speaker C: Like I'm wanting something heavy, so I'm saying the opposite. [00:09:27] Speaker D: Oh, okay. Well, I've been wanting Black Label Society. We got it as a singles. Maybe something just to keep the momentum going. Just as heavy. Something really dark and heavy. [00:09:35] Speaker C: Thinking either that or just something. Either from an era that we knew but didn't know. You know what I mean? Like something that we didn't know from the era but was like, oh, how did this go under the radar? Like, something like that would be cool as well. [00:09:48] Speaker A: You never know what we're going to get. So let's see. All right, let's spin it. Here we go. [00:10:12] Speaker C: Kxm. This is cool. We've got the Corn drummer Doug Pinnock and George Lynch. This is a very interesting combo. I've heard of them. I don't think I've ever heard them, though. And this is actually released on Frontiers Records, which is an Italian label that has kept a lot of the 80s stuff going. Mark, have you ever. You probably heard of them. Have you ever heard it? [00:10:33] Speaker A: I've heard of them, but I've not heard the album at all. No idea. Interesting. I like Doug Pinnock. I like King's X when we did them. I like George lynch again. We should temper our expectations. Supergroup again. The last supergroup we had didn't fare so well. [00:10:49] Speaker C: I don't know that these people would go on such a tangent as the Fern did. I'm thinking that. Think about it. King's X was kind of praggy. Korn was obviously heavy. George lynch can probably play anything. I'm really curious about this. [00:11:03] Speaker A: Yeah, this is something I would never really play myself unless someone said, hey, like, listen to this. This is 2014 producer is Chris Collier. I don't know who he is. Supposedly Got a lot of positive reviews. Not going to read about what they say because that would influence what you think about it. They just went to the studio for like a week and then put this thing together. [00:11:21] Speaker C: I guess it was all done there. Did they just kind of get together, jam and. [00:11:25] Speaker A: Yeah. Went in and just did stuff. Yeah. Interesting. All right, cool. The first song is Star. [00:11:38] Speaker B: It. Bring yourself, bring all of you no safety switch but you might find a fuse you can refuse what you will have regret yeah, what if it's something that you can't take by? You don't see the stars till it's really dark don't you look down, look up oh, yeah, you see the star when it's really dark Dark. [00:13:16] Speaker C: Not too crazy about the chorus yet. I like that main riff a lot. I like what the drummer's doing, the guitar. I mean, that stuff is all really strong. [00:13:22] Speaker A: It's interesting so far. Supposedly they didn't know each other. They just kind of went into the studio a week and a half, wrote a song a day, I guess, and just put stuff together. So no one came in with anything preconceived or supposedly totally written out. Just kind of a spontaneous record. Interesting so far. I like the main riff. Yeah. The chorus, I'm not sure. [00:13:40] Speaker D: I was curious as to what we're gonna get. Wow. The opening riff was great. George Lynch. So did you expect anything less? And then you have the drummer for Korn. I don't know. I'm excited for the rest of this. And the whole concept that you said, it was just a bunch of guys hanging out. 2 o' clock in the morning in a bar somewhere in LA. Maybe not 2 o'. Clock. They close at 1 o' clock over there, but you get the idea. They just happen to be in town somewhere and they just said, let's just jam one day. And here we are. Can't wait to hear the rest of this. [00:14:05] Speaker A: I'm very excited to see what else comes out through this. Here are the lyrics. Verse 1. Bring your whole self, bring all of you. No safety switch but you might find a few you can refuse but you will have regrets. What if it is something that you can't take back? Chorus. You don't see the stars till it's really dark. Don't you look down, look up. You'll see the stars when it's really dark. I'm not too sure what's going on here yet. I need a little bit more time. All right, let's continue. Here we go. [00:14:38] Speaker B: Whatever we choose, we don't Have a choice. Whatever you get comes from what you believe and who can you trust? Because everyone. Breath. Don't see the stars here. It's really dark. Don't you look down, look up? Yeah, you see the star, you got to look up. [00:15:34] Speaker C: I don't mind the chorus as much that time around. Again, I like that main riff. The production is border. It has that new feel, but it's slightly better. I think it's kind of one foot but not both feet, so it's not bothering me as much. I definitely like that main riff. It's nice and heavy. The drummer's doing a really good job. [00:15:53] Speaker A: I'm not too stoked about the chorus yet. It's interesting. [00:15:56] Speaker C: Yeah, it's okay. [00:15:57] Speaker A: It's all right. I have expectation here, which I have to temper my expectation kind of know how this goes. I just don't know where it's going to go. Maybe it's going to get better. I like the riff. I'm not digging this too much right at the moment. Maybe it'll change up a little bit. Drag me in a little bit. It's one of those things. First listening to it, you're not sure what to do. Because I've never heard anything from them, so I don't know. I know his voice and we liked King X. I'm curious to see where this continues on. [00:16:21] Speaker C: It's funny, too, because I wouldn't have known it was him, but having listened to that other record now I totally know it's him. [00:16:28] Speaker A: His voice is fairly unique. [00:16:30] Speaker D: Mark, I understand tapering expectations after the big letdowns that we had not too many shows ago. So far, man, this is really good. Wow. Can't wait to hear the rest of it. I don't know where they're going with the song, but I could definitely tell you the musicianship. Air. [00:16:42] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, no doubt. I don't think anyone here is going to say that the musicianship is going to be bad. It's whether they can put it all together into songs is the question. I'm curious if we're going to get a solo or not. I don't know. Maybe. I would think with George lynch, but you never really know. And you're right. So, you know, the production's a little sketchy right now. I like the drums. The drums actually sound like drums. I don't think there's a lot of sampling going on here, if there's any. [00:17:02] Speaker C: Yeah, like I said, I think it's kind of at that line, right? [00:17:05] Speaker A: Yeah. Let's see what happens here. We go. [00:17:50] Speaker C: What'D you think, Mark? [00:17:51] Speaker A: That's not what I expected. I expected more guitar stuff. [00:17:55] Speaker C: I'm upset that it didn't go anywhere. I'm like, okay, I hear it. That time it changed up a little bit in terms of what was going on. And then I said, even at that point had a gun into a solo, I would have been okay. I just think that eight bars, I think it was of. Of that. Did you really need eight bars of that? Because what's going on behind it I thought was really cool. I would have liked something more. Didn't have to be some breakout solo. But even just a little variation on what was going on, that's my opinion. [00:18:20] Speaker D: I don't know. I mean, yeah, you want to hear a little bit more? I like it. I think it was delivered perfectly for me. [00:18:25] Speaker A: Yeah. I was expecting something totally different. That's not what I expected from George lynch whatsoever. So now I'm kind of like, it's going to be one of these records where they're just doing whatever they want and the songs are going to suffer. I hope not. Okay, let's continue. Here we go. [00:18:45] Speaker B: 100%. We are all in the dark. Say it's the end, But I say it's the start. We are human and we are one. You don't see the stars till it's really dark. No. So don't look down, look. You don't see the star there. Then it's really dark outside. Oh, no. All in the dark. So you got to look up. Yeah. [00:20:40] Speaker C: A little juiciness there at the end. Definitely sounds like George lynch, without a doubt. And actually I'm thinking that main rip just struck me a little bit. It's a simple, slight variation, I think, on Mr. Scary from back from the Attack. That. Not as complicated. Just sounds like those beginning notes are kind of the same name. Mark, what'd you think of that fade out solo? [00:21:00] Speaker A: I think it was a little bit better. I got so caught up in this I forgot to read lyrics. The second verse is powerful words, makes a powerful voice. Whatever we choose, we don't have a choice. Whatever you get comes from what believe and who you can trust. Because everyone bleeds. And the chorus is basically the same again. The third verse is the deeper the reason, the higher the cost. 100%. We're all in the dark. Say it's the end, but I'll say it's a start part. We are human and we are one. And of course it's basically the same. A couple of changes here and there. I Don't know yet. I'm not sure what I feel about this. This hasn't really grabbed me yet at all. I like the ending. Solo was a little bit better. He had some outside playing, so that was pretty interesting to hear from him. I don't know. [00:21:42] Speaker C: Do you want to go first? [00:21:44] Speaker A: No, I do not want to go first. Sav, you go first. [00:21:47] Speaker C: I'll make it easy. I think I liked at least half of it. I'm gonna say six is a cross across. That's how I'm going to start. I think that's pretty fair. Do you want Frank to go next? [00:21:57] Speaker A: No, I'll go next. I think I'm going to do fives across. I think for me, that's a fair thing. I'm not too sure where I'm at with this yet. This didn't really catch me. I like the riff. I'm not too sure if I'm too into the way the drumming pattern was. It's interesting. I feel sometimes it doesn't really drive it forward. I think it's complicated just to be complicated. That makes sense and doesn't really help me get into the groove of the song. Maybe that's just the way he plays drums. I'm not a big porn guy. I don't really listen to their stuff. I know certain songs and things. I guess that's more his style. I don't know, Frank. [00:22:30] Speaker D: Lyrics and melody, I'm gonna give a six. The rest. I'm gonna go eights across. Here you have multiple styles of music crashing together, and that first song is coming together really good. The only thing I didn't like was the lyrics, but you go in, you put in some different lyrics. This is very easily Nines Gro, but I do like the style. Just a bunch of guys playing their own style. And so far, it's coming together really good. [00:22:49] Speaker A: Interesting. That's the total opposite of what I think about that. Okay, so the next one is Rescue Me. [00:23:14] Speaker B: Sam. I've been looking for the right time but the right time never comes I've been looking for somebody not just anyone and I haven't got the answer to why I feel alone I've been looking for the right kind I'm on the run Let me out Rescue me, me oh, love me Res. [00:24:35] Speaker C: I like. I like everything musically going into the verse. I didn't like the melody of the verse. I didn't like the melody of the chorus. And I don't like the production. I think the production suffers in this one. It needs something more because I Think what's going on with the main riff is cool. I like that little B thing that was doing. But then once the verse came in, it was a totally different song. It kind of felt to me, jammed in. [00:24:56] Speaker A: Yeah. I'm starting to feel that this is going to be what I unfortunately didn't want it to be. I don't think everyone's on the same page. I think that's a problem. They can't get a unified sound. Especially for the first record that they're doing together. It feels like it's all over the place. I don't really think the production is really killing this. To me, what's killing this is. Is they just wrote a song and put it out there every day. And sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. This is still not grabbing me as much as I'd like it to. I don't know what to say. I don't hate the chorus, although I do notice a pattern so far where the verses are a certain way and the choruses want to be very poppy. [00:25:30] Speaker C: It kind of comes in heavier. And then when the verse comes in, it's soulful, which is fine, but it just. To me, it doesn't fit where the song started. Chorus isn't terrible. It fits the verse kind of, but it doesn't fit the beginning. Beginning. It is a little bit all over the place. So I do agree with that aspect of it. [00:25:48] Speaker D: Hey, it fits the theme of the song. Just a bunch of guys got together, said, let's just throw some things together. They threw some lyrics. Doesn't feel like they put a whole lot of thought into writing the lyrics. They got some lyrics going on. This is more of a. I feel like a jam session. And the lyric writing was more forced. That's what it feels like so far. [00:26:08] Speaker A: I can't argue with that. I like some of the interesting things. He's doing a guitar. I just think that's just not put together as well as it could have been. I think if they all could have got on the same same page together, this could be great. I just think that's not what's happening. And I also think Frank is a Georgian's fanboy, so I think that's helping him a little bit. [00:26:24] Speaker D: No, no. Fake news. That's fake news. [00:26:28] Speaker A: Verse 1. I've been looking for the right time but the right time never comes I've been looking for somebody not just anyone I haven't got the answer to why I feel alone I've been looking for the right time I'm on The Run chorus Let me out Rescue me Let me out Let it be Rescue me, me I think it all could be better. I think that's what my problem is again. I think I have expectation here, just like I have with the firm. I have expectation. Not the same way, but I have expectation because I'd like Doug Pinnock, I'd like George Lynch. I just want it to be better. I want it to hit me and go, oh, wow. So this is great. But that's not happening. [00:27:01] Speaker C: I think there's parts that are hitting me. Well, as a whole, it's not boom. I like the way both songs start. I'm not crazy about where they're going. [00:27:10] Speaker A: Going, well, let's see. Maybe they can change it. Reel us in. Who knows? Let's see. Here we go. [00:27:35] Speaker B: Yesterday's behind me the rest is unknown I'm just a weary traveler Like a rolling stone if you want to join me you're more than welcome Let me up Rescue me up. [00:28:23] Speaker C: I think to me it's two separate songs. It starts off one way and I think if it continued that way, I would like it more. Or if it starts a different way and has the soul of the verse and the chorus. I don't like the two songs together, but I like them separately. That's the problem. There's, to me, the cohesiveness. The verse and the chorus go together, but what's on the outside of them, they don't go together. But I think they're both cool parts, but just not together, which is kind of like what happened in the first one. I do like it better than the Without a Doubt. [00:28:53] Speaker A: It's different than the Firm. I mean, there's some interesting things going on. He's kind of doing a thing with the toggle switch where he has one pick up off and he's in that interesting stuff. Something I wouldn't think he would do. Although I know part of the verse feels like a Lynch Mob song. Just a progression that's going on. Listen to the next time the verse rolls around, especially at the beginning of it feels like a Lynch Mob song. I don't know which one, though. Again, not feeling this too much right at the moment. I'm sure I'm not going to get a solo that I particularly like in this. I just think my expectation has already been shattered and I don't know if they can turn me around. Maybe they can. I mean, it's only two songs in, so I shouldn't say that. But right now they haven't really put their best Foot forward again. I think they're just not on the same page. Whatever riff that was that George lynch was doing in the beginning, there was a little really off time. Ish. Then it went into that other thing. And then the chorus is very poppy, which is, you know, similar to what King's X. I just don't know. I'm a little confused. [00:29:44] Speaker D: I mean, hey, man, all I'm hearing is a bunch of rock and roll artists cooking up a nice batch of hot rock and roll gumbo. I'm enjoying what I'm hearing so far. You know, you got different styles. Of course there's going to be different songs. You're going to hear different songs because you're hearing the different styles of rock and roll being played. That's what's really shining for me. The distracting part is the lyric writing because just feels like that was the throw in the afterthought. Not the music itself, just the lyric writing. [00:30:07] Speaker A: He's usually a good lyricist, though, this. Which is frustrating, too. [00:30:11] Speaker D: Yeah. I guess when it's really just a bunch of guys jamming and you have to write some song, you're not as into it, maybe. [00:30:16] Speaker A: Or you didn't have enough time. You're writing one song a day. [00:30:19] Speaker D: Exactly. You didn't have enough time to put it together. Maybe that's what happened here. [00:30:22] Speaker A: All right, here we go. [00:31:00] Speaker C: I mean, that was pretty subdued. [00:31:01] Speaker A: I think was a little bit better. But, yeah, for George lynch, that feels really super subdued. I don't know. I'm not feeling it, man. I'm not feeling. I want to feel it, but I'm not feeling it. All right, let's continue. Here we go. [00:31:19] Speaker B: And I haven't got the answer to Wild Fellow, But I'm looking for the right kind and I'm still on the right L, me up Rescue me, rescue, rescue me oh, let it, let it be, Let it be. [00:32:23] Speaker C: Like I said, I like the two songs. There's a soul to it, which I do like. I think the arrangement. Well, I mean, I won't talk about scores yet. That's where it kind of loses it for me a bit. [00:32:32] Speaker A: This is throwing me off so much. I keep forgetting to read lyrics as I'm trying to pay attention to what's going on on and why. I don't like this. I keep forgetting. Verse two is I never felt nobody Never settled down Yesterday's behind me the rest is unknown Just a weary traveler Like a rolling stone if you want to join me, you're more than welcome Chorus again, verse. I've been Looking for the right time but the right time never comes I've been looking for somebody not just anyone and I haven't got the answer to why I feel alone I've been looking for the right kind and I'm still on the run I think what we said before is probably true. You're writing a song a day. You don't have enough time to flesh these things out. You're putting them down, and. Yes. Could you get that special sparky thing? That's the first time you do it, and it sounds great. There are parts in here that I like, and there are parts that I'm just like. I don't understand how this is one song. Like you said, it feels very separated. I'll go first. I'm still doing fives across. I don't hate it. I just don't know what to do with it. To me, it just doesn't feel like they're playing the same thing or they want to be playing the same thing. I'm not too sure I like the drum sound on this. Overall, I don't think the production's horrible. I just. It's just meh. For me, I want to like this so much more. [00:33:41] Speaker D: Frank again, maybe that is what ended up happening here, that they basically only had a song a day to write, so maybe perhaps they couldn't flesh it out. This specific song. I like some of the lyrics, but not all of it. Overall, I think that's the weakest point so far. Just the lyric writing. Everything else has been great. [00:33:56] Speaker A: So what's your scores? [00:33:56] Speaker D: This one here, because I did like the lyric writing a little bit better. So I'm gonna seven to the lyrics and melody, and then eight across for the other ones. To me, it's just. You have a bunch of different genres and artists from different genres just coming together really well. They're putting it together really well. Yes, you hear different songs, but what you're hearing is they're different sounds. And. And to me, it sounds very cohesive. [00:34:17] Speaker C: I will say five on the lyrics, six on the music, five on the production, five on the arrangement, and six on the melody. Again, I don't think it's a bad song. I think there's two very good songs here that just didn't kind of fit together. I think the chorus is better in this one, and I think the transition is better, and I like the soulfulness of it. I just wish the two songs blended together or just they came from different beginnings. I don't think either song is bad. The production, too. I Know is lower than the first one. I like the production better on the first one as well. Interesting. [00:34:50] Speaker A: I'm getting distracted with the song. I don't even hear the production right now. I'm just so distracted. Distracted. But let's see if they can pull me back. This is gunfight. [00:35:20] Speaker B: The I need a transm from living an illusion. The people, the solution Right before my eyes Right before my eyes like you never saw before Gonna be a gun fight like you never saw before. You're gonna be a r. So barricade your doors. It's gonna be a good fight. Like, you. [00:36:17] Speaker C: Hear a little Hendrix in his vocals there, I think. I think the production is better on this one. Well, the production of the drums, I think is better. I think if the guitar were heavier, it would make more of an impact. But so far, this one isn't really grabbing me. [00:36:30] Speaker A: This is my favorite so far. [00:36:31] Speaker C: I was like, mark's going to say the opposite. [00:36:34] Speaker A: This is the most cohesive together song. Song to me. I don't know if I'm wrong or right about that. I'm just getting pounded into submission here. I really do think that, for me, this feels a little more flowy. All right, this is another song. Maybe they're getting into their groove a little bit, and it feels like it's a little more together. Doesn't feel like it's two songs jammed together. Feels like it's one song. [00:36:54] Speaker C: I agree. [00:36:55] Speaker A: Yeah. So far, I like it the best. [00:36:57] Speaker D: Yeah. I think this is one of the songs that is more uniform. I understand what you're saying, Mark. It's just more uniform. You don't hear the different genres maybe mixed in. [00:37:04] Speaker A: He's doing some cool stuff in the chorus. He's using the whammy pedal. He hit that little high part that going on very similar to what they do in Rage against the machine. That thing with the whammy pedal. That's pretty cool. Verse 1. I got a little something that comes with my assumption, my trouble Quick it double all their lies that's probably not right. No lyric thing has this correct. So I don't know what the he's saying, yeah, yeah, yeah all their lies I need a transfusion from living in illusion the people, the solution they're all right before my eyes yeah, yeah, yeah Right before my eyes Chorus. There's going to be a gunfight like you never saw before Going to be a gunfight like you never saw before there's going to be a rising up so barricade your doors there's going to be A gunfight like you never saw before. The lyrics are pretty good. I think the lyrics are getting better. It kind of works together. It's so funny that this is the one you don't like, but this is the one that I like anyway. All right, let's continue. Here we go. [00:38:00] Speaker B: And to the confusion we question the conclusion in choosing a solution to take our rights away Take our rights away Ignore the constitution and take away our freedom Resist they call it treason and put your ass away way put your ass away it's going to be a gun fight like you never saw before Going to be a gun bike like you never saw before Going be a wrapping up so lock and broke your door morning going to be a good like you never saw. [00:39:08] Speaker C: I don't think it's bad, but it's kind of the least interesting for me so far. And maybe that is the is. I don't know. I mean, it's okay. It's not bad so far. [00:39:16] Speaker A: This is my favorite. I just like that it's finally coming a little bit more together. Maybe that's why you don't like it. Like you said, because it's not as interesting because not some weird chicko going on. Yeah, I don't know. I can see that some of the other songs had some interesting guitar things, some weirder stuff, but this is more straightforward. Before I forget the words, I'm gonna do it. Now the next verses. To add to the confusion we question the conclusion in choosing the solution to take your rights away yeah, yeah, yeah Take your rights away Ignore the constitution and take away our freedom Resist they call it treason and put your ass away Put your ass away and then back to the court. I don't think the lyrics are bad. I think he's better than some of the other stuff. [00:39:53] Speaker D: Prior, this is awesome. This is by far my favorite. [00:39:57] Speaker A: Oh, me and Frank are on the same page. [00:39:58] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm always a rebel. [00:40:00] Speaker D: Even the writing is on point. [00:40:02] Speaker C: I do like the lyrics. This is probably my favorite set of lyrics. And again, I don't think the music is bad. It is the most cohesive, but I just felt as uncohesive as the other songs were. I like the separate parts better than here, if that makes any sense. I'm probably disliking it for the exact reason that you're liking it, which makes sense. I can appreciate liking it because of the cohesiveness. [00:40:23] Speaker A: Savino has to be the contrarian all the time. [00:40:26] Speaker C: Yeah, that's me. [00:40:28] Speaker A: All right, let's continue. Here we go. [00:40:43] Speaker B: Sam. [00:41:26] Speaker C: What you think, Mark? [00:41:27] Speaker A: It's still not what I would expect from him. But it wasn't bad. It was okay. I'm expecting more. I'm expecting he's not shredding. Well, parts of it yes, and parts of it is no, but no. Yeah, it's more groovy. It wasn't bad. I didn't hate. [00:41:37] Speaker C: He did do this cool thing, which, I mean, if there's any Godzilla fans out there. It sounded like Gabra. Just a kind of thing. It sounded just like that. [00:41:45] Speaker A: It wasn't bad. It was better. It was probably the best so far. All right, let's continue. Here we go. [00:42:08] Speaker B: Going to be a dead bite like you never saw before Going to be a rising up so barricade your joy Be a good fight like you never saw before Going be a good fight. [00:43:09] Speaker C: That, I think was so King's X. I like the double bass there at the end. [00:43:14] Speaker A: Gonna be a gunfight Gonna be a gunfight. Let me read the last bunch of lyrics. The last verses. Rebel against authority. We are the majority. Hear the people shouting Things are going to change. And then choruses all the way through. Frank, why don't you go first? [00:43:28] Speaker D: Sevens across for me on this one. The lyrics are a lot better. As the two of you already highlighted as we discussed this song. Seems like they were more on the same page. Just playing that, having that one unified sound. I know that the two of you were kind of like expecting a little more from George Lynch. I think he's just sharing the stage where everybody else and doesn't want to take over. You have all these great artists. It's almost like an all star star game. You don't want to take all the clutch shots. You want somebody else to do it so the fans can enjoy it. I think that's what's happening. Overall, good song. Seven across. [00:43:57] Speaker C: It's groovy, man. [00:43:58] Speaker D: It's quintuple. Seven. Nikki titty baby sad I got a. [00:44:01] Speaker C: Little Thin Lizzy vibe in there. A little fill in it. I'll say seven on the lyrics, five on the music. It was kind of meh for me. This one, I'll say six on production. Five on the melody. It wasn't crazy about the melody, but it wasn't terrible. The arrangement, I'll say six. It wasn't bad, but it was okay for me. It was the most cohesive. And I know that's really something I complained about in the the other ones. Even though the other two songs weren't cohesive, the parts that were separate were more interesting to me than Mark, me. [00:44:27] Speaker A: And Frank on the same page. Seven across. [00:44:29] Speaker C: Yeah, it's Steve and it's quintuple seven. [00:44:33] Speaker B: Nikki titty baby. [00:44:35] Speaker D: Does Steve know that we use his voice? [00:44:38] Speaker C: I think I mentioned it to him. I have to play it for him, though. I haven't played it for him. [00:44:43] Speaker D: We're going to have to do a special edition, have him on. [00:44:46] Speaker A: So we could just keep playing that over and over and over and over. [00:44:49] Speaker C: Yeah, but you can't say it. Just let it go. Go and play it and be like. He'd be like, wait a second. [00:44:53] Speaker A: All right, the next one is never stopping. [00:45:18] Speaker B: But I didn't know just what it was I was getting into. I could smell the scent of what I wanted more of. And words can be as powerful as drugs. And drugs are more powerful. Powerful in love. And I never stop loving you Something I could never do but the thought has crossed my mind way too many times time. But I never stop loving you. No. [00:46:24] Speaker C: Find this one kind of boring. It doesn't really go anywhere for me. I kind of like that banana kind of riff. And I'm sure, Mark, you will say it's cohesive. It absolutely is. But I just. This one definitely is not grabbing me kind of stock. [00:46:36] Speaker A: I don't know if his voice is good for this. I don't hate it. Kind of middle of the road for me. What you want to know is funny, though, there are no lyrics I can find for the song. It's a stock love song ish kind of thing. Yeah, it's not bad. [00:46:47] Speaker D: You know what happened here? We got this really great song and now all of a sudden we have this. Got me really pumped up. And now you're trying to bring me down, bro. I don't think his voice is designed for a ballad. Let's see how it plays out the rest of the way. [00:47:00] Speaker A: Alrighty, here we go. [00:47:08] Speaker B: Like a ghost inside my soul. You're always present. You're the shadow you're the darkness in my light Underneath my skin you. Your name is forever branded. And words are just as powerful as drugs. Oh, and drugs are more powerful than I never stop to love in you no oh, something I. I could never do oh, but that thought cross my mind sometimes all the time. I never stop loving you. Sam. [00:48:51] Speaker C: It was okay, actually, in the second verse. George lynch do some cool guitar things there behind the singing. I think there are musicians that can probably play any style. He's probably a guitarist that can play whatever you throw at him. Solo is fine. I just think overall the song is kind of boring. [00:49:07] Speaker A: I don't know if I'd call it boring. I think the musicianship is good. I think sometimes his vocals don't work as well in this kind of song. Although there were parts of it that I actually like. I'm not hating this. I think it's interesting that they would do this kind of a song here. They're going for more straight ahead and then they're going to take you down. I'm assuming the next song. Maybe they'll bring us back up again. I don't hate it. [00:49:26] Speaker C: I don't mind his voice. I think he's got a soulful voice. To me, it's not his voice that's doing it. I think it's more. He sounds bored. I do think he's got a good soulful voice. Voice. I feel like the song just doesn't really go anywhere. Like there is some interesting stuff going on. But as a whole, kind of. If that makes sense. [00:49:44] Speaker A: After the first two songs, I take any song that actually has some kind of cohesive nature to it. [00:49:49] Speaker D: I think Sav nailed it. He sounds bored singing this. He take his singing out of it and it's a different. It's a great musical song. His boredness is shining here and it's not so far. I don't know. [00:49:59] Speaker A: I feel like the odd man out now. I didn't really like the first couple of songs. Songs. And the next two I kind of like. And everyone's like, no, these things suck. Okay, I'm all messed up. Let's finish it up. Here we go. [00:50:19] Speaker B: No, no, no, no time But I never stop. Never stop loving you no, never stop loving you. You're my everything. Oh, no, I never stop loving you. [00:51:28] Speaker C: So I'm going to say something that may sound strange. Had this song come out in the 80s, I think it would have been a better song. I think an 80s kind of production quality to this song would have helped it, if that makes any sense. I was just kind of boring. And again, I don't mind his vocals. I personally don't think his vocals will wrong for this song. I think he's got a lot of soul in his vocals, but he didn't feel engaged. Like he felt more engaged in the end but just didn't kind of go anywhere for me personally. [00:51:57] Speaker A: Yeah, I thought he was more engaged at the end. I thought the vocals were better. He had a little bit more oomph in his voice. I think you should go first. [00:52:04] Speaker C: I'm going to say fives across. Just make it simple. I don't the production wasn't terrible. Just as a whole. The song didn't have me. I felt like it kind of didn't go anywhere for me. [00:52:13] Speaker D: Frank, I'm gonna do the same. Five across. It didn't go anywhere. It's. He sounded bored. He didn't really sound into it like in the other songs. And plus I'm really surprised they went this direction. Previous song was so hard hitting and then all of a sudden we got this. Surprising to hear that. Definitely eyes for me here, Mark. [00:52:28] Speaker A: Now I get to be a different person. 6 on lyrics, 5 on melody 7 on music. Cuz I think the music is very good arrangement. Six production. Six. I actually like the song. Yes. It's not in the weirdness that the other songs or it's much more commercial. Maybe that's what everyone's not wanting to hear. Maybe. I don't know. But I liked it. I didn't hate it. Okay, the next one is Faith is a room. [00:53:07] Speaker B: Sam with the fight. Faith is a room with many. No, I heard before. Faith is a room with many. No. Don't be afraid. [00:54:25] Speaker C: I think this one's a little bit more interesting. I wish the production was a little bit heavier. That would be my thing. It did what I wanted it to do when it was kind of playing that riff in the beginning and then it stopped and it came in heavier. I just wish it's a little bit heavier. I think that would lend itself better to it. I mean, I don't know what you think, Mark. I think it's still pretty cohesive and not too bad. [00:54:43] Speaker A: This might be my favorite song again. I think it's taken over from Gunfight. I like it. I like the interesting vocals that they're doing. The verse verses with the delay. I like the riff. I like the drumming. This is a better song. They're finally putting together a little bit of weirdness and the cohesive together. And that's really what I was waiting for to happen. [00:55:00] Speaker D: Mark, once again, you and I on the same page on this one. What makes this song shine so great is because that previous song was not that great for me. Really liking it, man. I like that whole weird beginning, the lyrics and everything. So it sounds really good so far. [00:55:14] Speaker A: And I found lyrics for this one. [00:55:16] Speaker C: Oh, good. [00:55:16] Speaker A: It's Faith in the light Heart with the fight light Give me life I in my life and then choruses. I've heard it said before Faith is a room with many doors I've heard it say before Faith is a room with many doors don't be Afraid. What do you think he's talking about here? I'm not sure. [00:55:32] Speaker C: We had this whole discussion last time where it felt like there were religious overtones, but he said no, I don't know what faith. I mean, faith could be anything, right? You could have faith in anything. Maybe. We'll see where the next one goes. Goes with the next verse if it kind of becomes any clearer. [00:55:47] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm liking this so far. I hope they continue on with this. Here we go. [00:56:10] Speaker B: Satan. I heard it said before. I heard it said before. Break in the room with many no, don't be afraid don't be afraid no, don't be afraid I know. [00:57:05] Speaker C: I'm interested in hearing. Is it the same lyrics, Mark, or. [00:57:08] Speaker A: Is it different lyrics on the verse? It's no, got no free four. I want a free fight. I know, free four to the free. And then back to the chorus again, which is the same. And then the don't be afraid at the end of the chorus. This is very King's X, don't you think? [00:57:26] Speaker C: Yeah, I can hear, hear that. [00:57:27] Speaker A: And I think the next part that's coming up is going to be much. [00:57:29] Speaker C: More King Z. Cohesively, it's the most interesting one. I think it's the one that's to me blends the interesting and the cohesiveness best out of these three, which have been the most cohesive. Probably my favorite. [00:57:42] Speaker D: Overall, I would say very uniform sounding. For sure, by far the best song that we've heard so far. Lyrics, music, all of it together. Really digging it. [00:57:50] Speaker A: Yeah, it has a good groove. I like it. I like the whole ambience of the verses. And then the chorus comes in fairly strong. So I kind of like, like that. Now let's see what they do. Here we go. [00:58:22] Speaker B: Room is a room with many doors don't be afraid no, no don't be afraid Sam. [00:59:22] Speaker C: I know we talk about guitarists and I know sometimes, Mark, you say how some guitarists you can pluck out of this band, put in that band, you know, this is George Lynch. He has that sound. And years later from the Dawkin days, it's still him. And I mean, it sounds good. It sounds good within the song. They kept the groove going. I wasn't too, too crazy about that very beginning part. I hope it doesn't stay here. And it didn't stay there. They went back into the grooves. I like it again. I mean, I think overall this is Soup to Nuts, the best song after solo was good. [00:59:52] Speaker A: It's the best solo so far. I like the little Breakdown beforehand, which I'll read the lyrics of that. Cuz that's a little different. The lyrics for that are. Faith is a door with a room. It's a room, It's a room. It's many doors. Faith is a room with many doors. Don't be afraid. Don't be afraid. And they're basically saying that doesn't matter what faith you have. There's many doors in faith. Is that what they're trying to say? [01:00:14] Speaker C: That sounds more like they talk about the first verse because I don't know what the hell's going on. The second verse. When you talk about the first verse, from what I remember, could be. [01:00:21] Speaker A: Yeah. I thought the solo was great. So far. This is my favorite song. I wish it gets to kind of stay like this. Not the same exact song, but in the vein of being very cohesive and blending the three people together like this. This is good. Hopefully there's more of this on here. It doesn't fall apart, but we'll see, I guess. All right, let's continue it. [01:00:52] Speaker B: Great big love gets me through the night I heard it said before oh, yeah Faith is a room with many joy Faith in a room with many toys don't be afraid don't be afraid. [01:01:35] Speaker A: I like the end ended right. Who wants to go first? [01:01:38] Speaker C: I'll go first lyric. Some of them I like, some of them weird, but I'll give it a five. I think I'll just say seven on the rest. To me it is the best of, cohesive and interesting so far. I wasn't crazy about every single thing over. Overall it was pretty strong song. Mark. [01:01:54] Speaker A: I think I'm gonna do seven on the lyrics. I like the lyrics a lot. I'm gonna say melody six, musicianship eight, arrangement seven. And I think the production is pretty good on this. I'm gonna say seven on this. It is my favorite song so far. That might change, you know, between the. The last song coming up on this side and next side. But so far, yeah, I like this a lot. Frank. [01:02:13] Speaker D: Very similar. I'm gonna give it sevens all the way across. Love the beginning. The guitar playing in this one was excellent. Love the solo. Everybody was just on the same page when it came to jamming. Loved it. Nikki, titty baby quintuple 7. [01:02:26] Speaker A: Alrighty. So now we're at the end of this side. And this is. I'll be okay. [01:03:00] Speaker B: Sitting above on Christmas at noon Knowing that I can't go back to the womb it's where I ended up. It's the choice that I Made but what can I say? I'll be okay Living together yet living alone the pleasure I feel the pain that I own all it's reveal Seeds I am sown what can I say? I'll be okay Be okay. [01:03:58] Speaker C: I like the groove. I'm not sure if I like the rest of it, though, the melody, and it's not bad, but it's not fully grabbing me, and I think it kind of has to do with the melody. [01:04:09] Speaker A: I like this one too. It's not as good as the last one, but I don't think it's bad. I still. I think the guitar playing is really good. It's starting to ramp up a little bit. I kind of like it. And another song where there's no lyrics. We're not gonna be reading any lyrics, so you're gonna have to make this up for yourself, people. [01:04:21] Speaker D: I think we're in for a strong finish. That's what I think. Really digging the bass in this one. The sound overall, it's great. Just looking forward to the end of it here. I think we're gonna end up strong. [01:04:30] Speaker A: All right, let's continue. Here we go. [01:04:35] Speaker B: As it washes my feet Counting the force of this underdog what can I say? I'll be okay Things don't give up on me I give up on them Divine intervention I'll make a chance But I'm gonna dance the cream of romance what can I say? Be okay I'll be okay. [01:07:20] Speaker C: That'S definitely the longest solo for sure. [01:07:22] Speaker A: It was great. I mean, I'm so excited to hear guitar solo from him. That's what I was waiting for. I was waiting for that kind of stuff to happen. It's awesome. I know I don't sound super excited, but I was sitting there going, wow, I can't believe this has actually happened. Look how long this song solos going. [01:07:35] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:07:36] Speaker A: Considering what all the rest of the stuff was started to ramp up after that gunfight song, taking Never Stop out of the situation, but still, that's a great solo, man. If you're a guitar player, you have to be really happy about that. [01:07:46] Speaker D: There goes the George lynch we knew. Great song. Great guitar solo there. [01:07:49] Speaker A: George lynch, ladies and gentlemen. [01:07:51] Speaker D: There he is, guys. He showed up okay. Don't complain now. [01:07:54] Speaker A: He was MIA for a little bit, but he's back. All right, let's finish it up. Here we go. [01:08:01] Speaker B: Yeah. Hey. [01:08:30] Speaker C: Probably the strongest overall, I think the fact that George got to show off a little bit. Cool drumming going on. I haven't really paid attention to the bass, actually. I don't think any one of us have mentioned the bass. [01:08:41] Speaker D: I didn't mention it before, did you? Yeah, yeah. For this song. Yeah. [01:08:44] Speaker A: I thought it was great. I thought that was a great song. I'm going to go first. I'm going to do Sevens Across. [01:08:48] Speaker D: Keep one eye open. [01:08:49] Speaker A: It's Nikki Titty Baby. Quinniple seven. I like the solo. I think. I think maybe the chorus is not as strong as the verses, but I didn't hate it. I thought it's going in the right direction. It's a good way to end the side, Frank. [01:09:00] Speaker D: Great way to end the side. Love the song. Triple 7's across for me as well. There goes the guitar solo that everyone's been waiting for. He showed up. Here he is, all his greatness. Better late than never. Great, great, great song. Great solo. Sevens Across. It's great to be here. Thank you. It's quintuple 7, just for Nicolo. Nikki Titty, baby. [01:09:21] Speaker C: Do I need to announce Frank twice at the beginning? Frank and AI Frank. [01:09:25] Speaker A: Frank and AI Frank. [01:09:26] Speaker C: So I go now, huh? [01:09:27] Speaker A: Yes, you do. [01:09:28] Speaker C: I'm gonna say I'm. The lyrics, I wasn't really paying attention, so if they're better than that, I apologize. Melody. I wasn't really crazy about five on the melody and seven on everything else. I mean, you can't deny the musicianship that was going on. [01:09:40] Speaker A: It feels like the production's gotten a little bit better too. [01:09:42] Speaker C: It's up and down. I think it depends, but I think for that one, I thought it was pretty good. And I do like the fact that they let him really stretch out. He let himself stretch out, I would say. So it's nice to hear him stretch out like that. [01:09:52] Speaker A: This is an interesting album that we got. I never would have thought we would have gotten this. I put it on the list. Probably like, it's just a. Oh, this is interesting. Lynch Pinnock. Mus interesting. Let's put it on. Not ever thinking we would get it. The first two songs not withstanding, I think so far it's going in the right direction. Now, whether side two will be better than side one one, I don't know. That's not usually the way it goes. Even though it happened last week, that doesn't always happen, so we'll see. It's an interesting record to get. Why don't you do your thing? [01:10:20] Speaker C: We are part of the Deep Dive Podcast Network again, like I always say. Great bunch of guys took us in right away. If you want individual podcasts about bands, check them out.
